Met a pretty cool State Trooper.
Sunday, my sister and I took our annual trip to Deleware for Christmas shopping and one last day at the beach. I was doing about 80 mph on Route 1 along with 5 other cars. I didn't see the trooper in time, he was in a parking lot with some other cars. Needless to say, when I saw him pull out, I slowed down and prepared for the inevitable. He pulled me over and told me I was clocked at 77 MPH in a 55 zone. When he came back to the car with the ticket he had written it for 64 in a 55. I thought that was pretty cool because he could have got me for 22 MPH over the speed limit. Also impressed that the ticket was only $51.00 and you have 35 days to pay it. After I signed the ticket, we started talking and he complimented the Mach. He asked if the hood and Shaker were original or if I put them on. The ticket sucked but the Trooper didn't have to be cool and lower the ticket. I was guilty!

That was pretty dang cool. You admitted guilt. Trooper didn't drop the hammer on you and complimented the Mach. Everything and everyone are okay. Not too bad short of the ticket--but at least it was cheap!
Last ticket I got was a warning (9 mph over)--I had two screaming kids in the back seat, an hour from home. I think he understood why I was speeding. He told me to keep it closer to 5 mph over--gotta love those Texas Troopers!

5 mps over sounds right - I got a nice ticket from Officer Baldi (no hair either) in Wyoming a few years back - 96 in a 75 zone (sorry officer I gotta get out of your state really quick), $200 and 7 days (I think) to pay. No regrets - I'd been hitting well over 110 mph a couple of miles before traffic spoiled things - that makes 4 tickets in total - one with a three week suspension for 100 + in the UK on a motorcycle (that could have been listed as wreckless with an automatic year ban as I'd been weaving through 70mph heavy traffic). One local ticket 4 years ago - lessons learned (maybe).

Your honesty probably played a great deal in the way the Trooper treated you. They are people too and appreciate being treated with respect.
I don't know that 5 miles over will help you in Wyoming or not. My wife got a ticket in '96 for 81 in a 75...$110. Now if we drive cross country, we go around Wyoming |

Sounds like my last ticket... 93 in a 65 (I have since learned my lesson and TRY not to speed too much). I was coming home from the Grocery store (30 miles away) and he noticed that I had Ice Cream in the car. he said, you got some frozen foods in there so I will try and write this up as fast as I can. Pretty cool IMO.

That trooper would have been really cool if he just gave you a warning instead.
Most the police I've ever met just don't have a sense of humor:

Real nice Trooper. I got pulled over in an 88 Bronco II doing 65 in a 60. VA SUX when it comes to out of staters. Now mind you I had a radar detector in the window and when he informed me they were Illegle in the state I removed it. No signs posted at the time in Bristol due to construction I found out later. So he writes me up for the ticket. Only real reason it upset me was cause I was cruising with 3 other cars. Mine was the only one with no front plate. Ticket was only $50, but the fact that it was on my record sucked. I try not to drive through VA unless i have to.
