Can't unlock door with key

I tried to unlock the driver side door with the key and it wouldn't work. Then I noticed that the lock (tumbler) seems to be loose in the door. It wiggles around quite a bit.

If I pull the door panel off, can I tighten this up and make it work? Or is it likely time for a new tumbler? And, if I replace the tumbler, I'll have to get a new key cut and programmed for the car too, won't I?

Re: Can't unlock door with key

The tumbler is held in place with a single clip. Its possible that clip broke and that is why the tumbler is loose. Pull the door panel and check. As far as a new tumbler goes, they are usually sold with a blank setting that will set using your stock key.
