Problematic Dyno Run...

Hey All, I need some help and advice. Took my car to a local shop in Houston for a dyno pull for the first time and ran into a few problems...

1. As they were testing the setup for the first pull, my rear brakes were engaging. After a low RPM test the rear brakes were smoking big time. What would cause this? The shop eventually worked it out, but I never got a good explanation.

2. After trying a few times, they could not get a good pull. I was told that they needed an additional piece of equipment/connection to get my car to complete a full run. They said something about not being able to get it to lock out.

I know I should have asked more questions, but when you are a novice like me it is difficult to know what to ask.

Best Result: HP (269.01) T (253.25) - see sig for setup and best track results.

Any advise or information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Pete

Does the car have any rear brake issues on the street?

Rear caliper sticking is my only guess.

Re: Problematic Dyno Run...

The hp number doesn't seem to far off. Here is an old dyno run from when my car had an o/r x, catback, and jlt rai. Torque does seem a bit off though. If they were having problems getting a dyno pull I would consider taking it to another shop.

Did they do the first pull with the e brake on and were too embarrassed to admit it?

Re: Problematic Dyno Run...

^ That's my guess. Problems like that don't surface the moment the car hits a dyno. Lol

op- Lesson learned. Don't go back.

Re: Problematic Dyno Run...

the rear e brake will get "hung up"...if it isnt used consistently. I would imagine either they pulled it up and it hung up OR they pulled it up and DIDNT put it back down...lol.

Don't feel bad, I felt the same way, they are kind of imitadating if you aren't sure of the process, I had more questions when I got HOME than when I was standing right there, if YOU don't feel comfortable, go somewhere else and don't mention you went to the OTHER guy!!
