ok, no takers......the 65 fuel pump had the filter inside a canister taht screwed onto the pump itself. 66 and up had a regular pump and the filter was inline to the carb.

Bonus - I will have to double check my book as I am not at home right now.

Didn't know that about the pump. Bonus; My impression of the carb inlet was that it was on the front of the carb, slightly offset to the right (pass.) side.

For today;
It has been a funny thing that the 2005 Mustang was supposed to come out of the gates with an 18" wheel and tire package. Dur to the limitations of the equipment that handles the tires/wheel assemblies, the package has been delayed until the pieces involved can be properly modified to handle this set up. This is not the first time this has happened to the Mustang. What was the first Mustang to receive an upgraded (size) wheel and tire package that was not able to be delivered with the conveyor at the assembly plant so all of these Mustangs had to have their wheels and tires delivered and installed manually? (Hint: it was a Fox body application)

I'm going to guess that the wheel was the metric sized wheel of the early fox body. I don't know the first year that they came out, but I did have an 83 GT with them. The tires weren't cheap for those suckers. I think the suspension package was coded TRX, or something like that.

Good try, but not it. The TRX was a system from Michelin that had a very good run in Europe in 390, 365, and 415 mm rims sizes. In addition to Mustangs (starting in 1979), they also had applications for Escorts/EXP/Lynx/LN7, T-Bird/Cougars and Fairmont/Futura/Zephyrs. Non-Ford applications were Peugeot, BMW and Ferrari.

The one that gave Ford the fitment fits was the 16" SVO.

Yup. It's called a Shelby Europa. There were 12 made in '71, and only two were convertibles. The GT 350s ran a 351C, and the GT 500 ran a 429 CJ. There were also two made in '72. The person responsable, Claude DuBois, was an importer of Fords and Shelby products. He also built one Comet based GT 250 that ran a GT-40 spec 289.

For today; the new Mustang sports a trunk mounted battery. This is not the first time a production Mustang has had this set up, what were the two classic Mustangs that had trunk mounted batteries?

I have a new 2005 Mustang GT...and the battery is not in the trunk...it is in the engine compartment against the passenger side firewall.

You're right, I was going to try to post it up when I got back from SEMA. The T-Bird and Lincoln LS have theirs in the trunk, but the battery on the Mustang has been moved back next to firewall, a first for any Mustang.
