TTSaleen's Eaton Swap Mach 1 project
This will be my thread to capture the start of my Eaton swap onto my 2003 Mach 1.
I purchased a complete take-off kit from svtp website off a guy with a 2003 Cobra. My kit has a Steggy stage 4 ported Eaton, LFP single blade throttle body, AFCO single stage heat exchanger, plus all the little parts including cables, brackets, hoses, etc. Over Christmas break, I installed front heat exchanger, lines and water pump/bracket. Sunday, January 4th, 2015 - Started the disassembly of my Mach 1. Removed hood and front bumper. Started removing shaker, alternator, power steering, coil covers, mass air, vacuum lines, etc. Drained radiator and removed hoses and thermostat. Spent about 2 hours on it taking my time to label everything and put small parts in ziplock bags. My plan is to take this project slowly and address small details to ensure it not only works properly, but looks good doing it!

Good luck with your eaton swap. It's not a hard swap to do just time-consuming but you will love it when it's done. Yea I saw your other post about coolant overflow tank and it will not fit the stock hood that's why I went with a cobra hood I wanted the extra coolant from the aftermarket tank being in Florida with the heat and all.

Re: TTSaleen's Eaton Swap Mach 1 project
Little more progress tonight.
1-6-2015 - Removed radiator and fan to give more access to front of engine. Removed intake as one unit (left top still attached). Removed entire engine harness so it was out of my way. Removed knock sensor bosses and ground them smooth my angle grinder. Mocked up the lower intake and supercharger. Gonna look pretty good! Ready to remove intake - This plastic connection was holding the wiring harness in place and keeping the intake from moving forward! Intake on the ground!

Re: TTSaleen's Eaton Swap Mach 1 project
About to remove knock sensors to allow more room to clear the supercharger manifold.
Cherry on top!

Re: TTSaleen's Eaton Swap Mach 1 project
Here's the long awaited......how to mount your shaker to an Eaton with pics.
So first thing is to reuse your factory brackets! Yes true it can be done, but you gotta cut the hell out of the front one! The back one needs a small cut to eliminate the extra hanging over the throttle body. I cut the front one apart and could only use the passenger side. My driver side will not fit with my aftermarket pulley arrangement. I bent up some flat aluminum from Home Depot as a mock up. Not sure if I will keep this or not the way it is now. Gotta clearance the bottom side of the front mount so it does not push on my intercooler hose. Gotta cut a small corner off the rear bracket to clear the boost dump solenoid. That's about it. Some wrinkle black paint once I'm done on the brackets and it will be ready! I bolted it up tonight and it fit perfectly in the hood opening and was tight! This is probably the easiest thing I have done on this Eaton swap! On to the pictures.

Re: TTSaleen's Eaton Swap Mach 1 project
Awesome looking TR M1 !!!
One thing I noticed though, throttle cable bracket is mounted incorrectly on the eaton. Thus the weird cable angle. It goes on the RH (pass) in the front, and LH (driver's) on the back mounting stand off. Easy fix, and will correct your cables fitment. |
