Anybody Else Do This?

I bought my Mach when it was less than a year old. It had less than 6K on it so it was pretty new at the time. Got to thinking and realized that I be now owned it longer than any other vehicle that I've ever had.
it's great to see this second coming of American Muscle cars.the Big Three all have awesome cars. I've been lusting after a new Challenger RT but couldn't sell or trade in my Mach to get it. Thought about it, but knew I'd regret it.
The thing is, every time I park it and walk away, I always turn around to check it out. The car still looks "cool" to me. Usually the "new" factor wears off with a car after a few months but it never did with this one.
Anybody else still doing the turn around to check it out thing after all these years? -Jim

If you don't look back at it when you walk away you bought the wrong car imho

Re: Anybody Else Do This?

I will say, every time I walked out to open my garage door, up until the last time the Mach was parked in it, I was constantly in love with the way it looked. If only the beauty was beyond skin-deep in my case, the car would have stayed. Looks can only keep frustration at bay for so long - in my case 2 1/2 years apparently.

Re: Anybody Else Do This?

I bought mine new in 09/03, hell I still tap its roof and thank it for a hell of a ride, turn around AND back up to look at it, will sit in barn and stare at it thinking how far we have come together since that day she was mine and never get tired of hearing ALOT "Man that is a sweet car"...yes, I love my car and how it makes me feel after a spin and for always getting me where I want to go with no issues and safely..the key is I replace stuff BEFORE it goes bad, whether it needs it or not

Re: Anybody Else Do This?

I always look back. Sometimes twice.

P.S. even a new Camaro SS sounds like a POS with worn out glass-packs when it goes by, can't even hear a Camaro V6. Every time I hear a cool rumble and turn to see what it is, it ends up being a pickup truck. I don't even have to look to know when a Mustang goes by.

I never look at it when I'm walking away from the car. That's what you do when you're walking towards the car.

Re: Anybody Else Do This?

I bought my '04 mach brand new back in December of 2003. I still love it just as much now as I did over 11 years ago. And yes, I always have to turn around to check her out when I walk away. We have an attached garage and I still open the door just to look at it sometimes.

I know exactly how you feel. I was the same way with my 01. I always thought it was a good looking car. Just got tired of working on it.

The new owner sent me a couple pics the other day and it still looks good.

Re: Anybody Else Do This?

About 20 years ago, I lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment building and it overlooked an apartment parking lot across the street. From my couch, I could see people coming and going. One guy in particular had a habit of getting out of his car and turning around 1-5 times before he walked into his building. He was driving a Chevy Citation with a fart pipe, being held together with bubble gum. Before that, I had never seen or heard of people doing that.

Re: Anybody Else Do This?

I only turn around to check to see if I locked the doors or if I'm parked to close to another car or did I park next to a car that looks better than mine, nope that's not going to happen. I even turn around in space to see my car.

Yeah for sure! 4V with an X pipe is a sweet sound for sure! I've heard the firing order plays a big part in this. But you can definitely hear a difference in a 4V vs a 2V motor. I know this might be blasphemy to some, but I've never liked the sound of a Harley twin. Basically two cylinders loped off a radial engine, it just doesn't have a smooth rhythm popping off.-Jim

Re: Anybody Else Do This?

Always, I usually pick a spot in a restaurant where I can always glance at it. I would even be on the fence if someone offered to trade me a 15 GT straight across. My mods and all help. I would consider a 13 GT500 though.
