bought a KB Kit! what else to i need?

Hey guys. I picked up a like-new 2.1 IC kit that arrived yesterday. I would like to get this thing installed as soon as i can, but i'm wondering what else is needed/recommended before taking everything to the shop. mainly fuel system.

For the KB guys, what else did you get in addition to the kit? KB BAP? Spark plugs? RAI instead of CAI?


I'm planning on getting the stock gears (maybe some cheap 3.73s) installed. Also i'll have the 9lb pulley on.

NGK TR6 plugs, BAP, Injectors (60 I think?), CAI provided by KB, tune, I think that's it?

They used to have a parts list PDF on their site.

the kit was $3500 from a guy on here

so is a BAP and injectors the only fuel upgrades? that sounds good to me. peak power will hopefully be around 450-470 for a while

Dunno if the stock pumps with the bap will be enough to support 450hp. Might wanna look into some stock cobra pumps.

I would upgrade your pumps to the cobra pumps with the bap.

I have the stock pump with the KB supplied BAP and injectors and have been at 475 for 25k miles. I'm very hard on the car too.

They even put it up to 500 for shits and giggles when tuning but backed it off for safety reasons knowing my driving style.

Oh - I do have a 10% over crank pulley too. (Cheap summit brand)

With the stock crank pulley I made 440 to the wheels.

the kit came with the injectors, but no BAP. looks like i'll have to order one from KB. i think everything else is there. the KB site says the kit comes with 42 lb injectors, how do i verify this?


does the kit use the stock mach 1 throttle body? i'm wondering if it would be better to use my stock one and sell the accufab one i have on now?


for gauges, will i be good with just a boost gauge? i like the steering column mount. do i really need the others if i am getting a custom tune?

Not sure how to verify the injectors - will have to let others chime in on that.

You can use any TB you want I believe. I went with the KB Big Oval TB upgrade when I got my kit.

You don't "need" any gauges. They are all just nice to have eye candy. The tuner should have a way to measure boost without a gauge by plugging into one of the lines on the SC somewhere.

I have boost/vac, water temp, and a DPSS gauge as my choices. I found the DPSS to be helpful with the shift light because everytime I over revved the KB kit the tensioner would bend and shred a belt. I eventually got a ThumpRRR tensioner...but the light helped prior to that.

here are a couple pics. i'm going to take it to the shop (excessive motorsports in VA) hopefully sometime next week so they can check it out. install and tune won't be cheap, but oh well, should be worth it!

since the kit was previously installed, some of the stuff is still put together. the intercooler is still mounted to the blower and some of the brackets are attached.

Good luck man! Post what numbers you put down.

I'd look into an SVT Focus or Lincoln Aviator pump + your bap. Both are drop in replacements.
NGK TR6 plugs gapped at .032".
That should get you where you want to be.

FINALLY got the car dropped off on Friday. should have it back by the end of this week!

finally got the numbers: 476rwhp and 406 rwtq!!!

im picking it up tomorrow so i don't have all the details yet, but the tuner said everything looked really good as far as fuel and timing. 8lb of boost total. he printed out a dyno sheet, so hopefully soon i can get it scanned and i'll post it up with some pics asap.
