Finally Picked One Up
Well, I was dead set on black for a very long time, but I finally gave in and brought this EXTREMELY clean DSG home last Tuesday. Has Kooks headers/catted X/really quite magnaflow 3" I'm pretty sure, JLT intake, Hotchkis upper/lower rear control arms, Swarr bar on axle, original and ESR wheels, and a few odds and ends. Already had some parts I scavenged together in preparation, and ordered a few things last weekend. Quite a few plans for it, all realistic.
Something I do need help with is from those with 03/04 Cobra front bumpers for a potential project. I need some underside shots(be it on or off the car, with or preferably without a chin spoiler) to see exactly what I'm looking at and how smooth it is underneath. I see the stock regular mustang bumper has little 2" air dams that run along the backside. I'll be ordering one shortly, just debating on from where. Very interested in making a streetable, good looking splitter for it. Thanks in advance everyone. |

Re: Finally Picked One Up
Congrats, looks really clean. Got any other shots?
Are you sure about the cobra front cover? To me they've always looked empty without a heat exchanger, and the roundness of the cobra nose up front without the matching side skirts creates a weird effect. But that's just how my eyes see it. If you like it then do it! Congrats again, I know you've been on the fence for a long time.

Re: Finally Picked One Up
Btw, anyone know by chance the initials on the coil covers? Honestly can't read them.

It also is almost perfectly flat underneath, which will help when adding a splitter. The two I know of for new edges all drop down between 1-3" before the horizontal piece, which would leave next to no ground clearance when lowered. |

Re: Finally Picked One Up
I hate when people put Cobra front ends on Mach 1 cars. I recently got blasted on the Mach 1 Registry facebook page for my thoughts, but to each their own!
Nice car BTW.

Re: Finally Picked One Up
I don't care for it either TBH. I like the 99-01 Cobra bumpers and wish the Mach's came with them, but I wouldn't swap my stock bumper out for that either. I like keeping the differentiation between the Mustangs.

Re: Finally Picked One Up
On the topic of differentiating, I had actually just about given up finding a decently priced black Mach, and had told myself one more week and I'm done. The owner offered it to me when I posted on a few Facebook sites weeks earlier ISO of a black Mach. Then the hurricanes happened, and my parents live full time in Myrtle Beach now. So I flew down two weekends in a row to empty the whole house into a Uhaul, and then deal with the aftermath of close to 2 feet of standing water in their house(live over 2 miles away from the main river that flooded, not even close to what's listed as a flood zone). Just happens the guy posted it for sale to the public, and dropped the price a few grand day after day till I offered to buy it.
If it had been just one more week, I had convinced myself to pull the trigger on a local 6.0 LS2/T56, a black GT roller, and few other odds and ends I found. Would have had a Mach 1 tribute car up and running by next summer, which I'm sure would have gone over well... |
