It lives(with bunch of pics)
It felt like an uphill battle, but I think I won!. As a refresher: I bought a 142,xxx mile mach 1 on ebay about the middle of March. I knew going in that the motor was knocking, HARD. I paid what I thought was a fair price and started working on it. The car had 4 spun rod bearings, a ripped up drivers seat, and a hole in the front bumper cover. Well, anyway I finally have some progress to report. But first, the pictures.....
I started with this.....(crappy ebay pic) And then got to this point... And then this..... And then got the engine bay nice and clean like this.... Went with forged rods and pistons, and had the stock crank turned. Had my brother in-law do a mild port and polish on the heads. Picked up a set of 98 cobra cams, low mileage stock springs and a new oil pump. Had the machine shop do a valve job, new seals, and then I bolted it all back together(after a lot of cleaning and painting). Like this.... More to come....

Re: It lives(with a bunch of pics)
Also decided I needed a cooling mod since future plans include a supercharger. So I bought another pipe like the one on the passenger side and modified it.
Got the seat fixed by a local shop. They went ahead and dyed the whole set for me so they would match. So I went from this... To this... Bought a replacement front bumper from ebay(prepainted). Thought the match was close enough. Just have to drill new holes for the chin spoiler(new one was included when I bought the car). Then the motor went back in. Without headers or the trans in the way, it goes back in pretty easy.

Re: It lives(with bunch of pics)
Got everything else bolted back on. Longtube BBK headers and a plug for the intake silencer from ebay...
The car already had a catless x-pipe on it. So I cut it down and had it rewelded to fit the longtubes. On top of that it still has the stock cat-back in place, with exhaust cut-outs welded in before the mufflers. Can't wait to uncork them see what that sounds like. I found a reciept from the previous owner, he had 4.10s and a detroit truetrac installed less than 100 miles before the engine went south. Finally got to drive it! Wow, other than some concerns about the clutch, it seems to run great! I don't have anything for a "before" comparison but it sure seems to pull hard now!!! Anyway, can't wait to get the break-in finished. Thanks, Bryan

Re: It lives(with a bunch of pics)
It was right around $5xx to replace 3 panels, replace the foam in the bolster and the edge of the base, and have them redyed. I had them done when I first bought the car and the replacement covers were not available yet.

Nice work. Makes me want to keep mine and do the work slowly over a period of time. I have no patience.

Re: It lives(with bunch of pics)
That's the wife's car. Unfortunately, it's a clone. The previous owner added all the Roush parts to the car. Still a lot of fun to drive though.

Re: It lives(with bunch of pics)
Looks nice!!! Alot of people don't even know about the 428R and the 429R. There is a 428R around Green Bay and I think they only made 200 of the 428R's and 100 of the 429R's
