Wonder if the engine will catch fire like the aircrafts?

Re: F-35 Ford Mustang

I'm normally not a fan of tribute / one off cars like this, but this one is very very cool.

Re: F-35 Ford Mustang

Another paint and tape model car. Hope it's not as troublesome as the actually F-35 aircraft itself.

If Ford built a real F-35 tribute Mustang it would look like a wide-bodied Mustang with 4-doors, four-wheel drive, a pickup truck bed in the back, powered by a 5-cylinder diesel twin-turbo'ed engine, and a third row of fold-down seats for the soccer Mom's. Basically the F-35 is being sold as a replacement for the A-10, F-16, and AV-8 Harrier for the Air Force, Navy, and Marines. It will be a "Jack-of-all-trades and Master of none". All three services have different requirements and this airplane will be compromised to allow all three services to have it. Think of Ford deciding to make the Mustang for sports car enthusiasts, farmers and cowboys, and soccer Moms all combined into one car.

Re: F-35 Ford Mustang

what your describing is basically the f150 lol there just not trucks any more! trying to find a dealer around here that has an actual truck with an 8' bed and 2 doors is hard. haha ford wants the f150 to appeal to all the people your describing.

Re: F-35 Ford Mustang

Bill H, isn't this the plane no one in the military wants but was told they are getting?

I'd sooner see a tribute car for a plane that has being proven to be worthy of a tribute. P-51, F-14, F-16, F-18, A10, F4, etc. Take your pick, plenty of proven planes to choose from.

Bill, no offense meant in not mentioning any cargo planes as it didn't seem right since Ford did make the 15 smaller.

Not entirely true. Each branch gets a slightly different variant depending on needs (aka Navy version requiring larger wings than other variants for STOL). But yes, seeing each one separately you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The idea was to be able to share enough parts to save money. Obviously, it's a pretty huge failure with it taking much longer than expected and being billions, or whatever, over budget. But, it isn't the exact same plane for each branch (I think the air force doesn't even get STOVL).

Anyway, car is a little ridiculous but at least it gives you an idea of how good these will look with a good stance and nicer wheels.
