Probably getting a Mach 1, need feedback
Hey, new here. Looking at a 03 Torch Red Mach. Car has 7300 miles and they are asking $23,500 for it. They are giving me $16,00 for my GT that has 34K on it. Will any of my mods fit on the Mach ? I know the shifter will which is surely going on. How do you guys like your Machs? Any known problems on them so far? What kind of track times are these cars running stock? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can get a BRAND new Mach for a little less than that if you shop around.

Sapperstang,
Don't do it! Previous post was correct. I paid $23,800 for a brand new 04 5spd. Do your homework and shop around. Go to www.dealerconnection.com, pick Ford, and type in your zip code. You can search the inventory of all of the dealers in you area or anywhere in the country. Pat7211 |

Not sure on the mod's but I would think some would fit just depends on what you have, as far as time's go but one guy here on the site got a 12.98 or a 12.89 in the 1/4 his was stock to the bone. Most time's are mid to low 13's.
I personlally had probem with the 1st mach, but 2 days later i took it back and got a different new one same color and all and haven't had a problem with the current one, runs stong and very quick, only has 600 miles on so i'm still takeing it easy on her. A few other people have had their share of problems mainly it seems to be with the 03's. I'm assuming you have test drove one. as far 23K for the price -- is it a 04 or 03? If It's an 03 I would search around for a new 03 still sitting on a lot alot of poeple have been getting brand new 03's for the pric your paying on the used one. The blue book value on an 03 in excellent condition with 7300 miles on it is only 20,500 for trade value. Might also be a good Idea to get the Vin # off the mach and go to the forum "Mach1 ordering,, Pricing, Production & VIN Info" then go to the thread "Build dates & Vin Info" and see if "1badpony00" will look up the vin# to see if any warrnty work has been done to it before you buy it, Donna is very nice she did my vin for me and many others as well , ask her nicely she might hook you up. Also on there is alot of good info on that forum just gotta read it. Hope this helps some

I paid 24.7K for my new 04. 04's have 3K rebates. If you can find an X-Plan PIN# you'll save another 2K. Ask some members here if they have any extras. Thats where I got mine. Also see if your employer is X-Plan quailified.

Everyone is right about the price...TOO high. They did this to make it look like they are giving you what you want for your GT. My father taught me that as a car salesman a long time ago. I bought my Mach for 22,900 out the door and, in addition, opted for the Polyshield paint protection($22,900+$500). I know, I know... I usually don't fall for the add on gimmick. I just wanted the 7 year warranty on my paint. A good polish probably would do the same , but no warranty. I got the X plan (invoice price) - $3,000 rebate ($4,000 now) - $1,000 X plan bonus rebate (special incentive for X plan buyers at the time) - $1,500 military discount! Awesome deal! I had no complaints. Just one suggestion, do the deal like you are not trading the GT first. Get it down close to the price we paid for our Machs and then they will show you what you are really getting for the GT. I doubt they bite on the deal if you try to make them stay at $16,000 for the GT. They'd be taking a beating. Good luck man.

As for my self, I think you can get a better deal here in the states...especially after you pay for transporting the vehicle from port. Not a big fan of AAFES either. They act like they are doing you a favor. Not nowadays with all the rebates going on. Although, honestly, all this is from word of mouth and checking on the internet.

i agree with DanK, they played a numbers game to make your trade value look so good. check to see what kind of deal you could get on a brand new one, they won't give you the $16,000 for the gt, but with the rebate and possibly x-plan, if you can get it, you may end up close or even better in the end. is it possible to sell the gt, if so you would be better off for sure? ask them what they would sell the used mach for with no trade, you'll also see what they were really giving you for your trade! good luck.

they are right, shop around!
All the advice above is solid. You have a strong bargaining position. especially with the 05s around the corner.

Hi and welcome...
Here's my .02. Like everyone else...when I saw that price I thought it was too steep. Not only can you get an 04 for close to that with the rebates..you'll most likely get better APR rates with the new one vs a used one.

Well I dont see getting an 04 for cheaper. Not around this area. All the 04's are priced at 29,900 or MORE! The price on the one I am looking at is actually good for this year. THese awesome deals some of you have got are unheard of around this area.

Let us know how much you will be financing after trade in. I can't believe your area will support that kind of price. When the market dropped out of the new car market, it also dropped the value of newer used cars heavily too. From what I have heard on this board, it happened all across the country. Don't let the dealer blow smoke up your a**. You will regret it later. I agree with others, keep the GT and trade in a couple of years. They are just really going to take the GT for nothing.

Wait
I'll sell you my DSG that has only 3500 miles for $24000 and will deliver it to you. Or will take your GT and give me just $12000 cash and I'll deliver to you still. The Mach is the motts of cars I might add!!!!!!!

If there is nothing wrong with your car, you hold the cards. Tell the dealership how much (or little) that you are willing to pay. If they can't do it, then just walk away. As the dealer will tell you in regards to your trade, Kelley Blue Book doesn't buy cars. Use that line right back at 'em.

if you really want one sell your car out right. and have the buyer buy it through the dealership. Saves you on taxes and you won't lose your rear end on trade in:THUMBSUP:

That may not be a bad deal!!! Yes you can purchase a new Mach for a little more than that, but that would be an outright deal with no mark-up. Since he is trading something they are going to use the 23500 for their price and give him 16000 on trade for his. Chances are that they are not giving him 16,000 for his stang. The only thing that is gonna matter is the difference, so shop around and price a new one. I would almost guarentee that the deal you have there is not as bad as everyone thinks. Also ask the dealer to show the ACV (Actual Cash Value) on your tade. That will definately tell whether this deal is a good deal or not. I bought my mach 1 a few months ago for 20,100 with 5k miles on it, and I looked at many many machs and never found another used one for less than a new one. Heck, I even tried to pick them up at dealers auctions and they were bringing 20K +.
