Talking I’m BACK!

Well it’s been some time since i have been to these forums, anyone here? Had to part ways with my sweet blacked out 03, but just purchased and will be taking delivery soon of an 04 DSG with 90k on it! So pumped to be back on the boards. Dream come true to own a second Mach 1.

Re: I’m BACK!

Congrats, brother. Just went through the same thing myself, and it feels so good to be back! The boards are a little dead, but some of the OG's are still here.

Seems like a lot of people have just stuck to the FB groups. Which sucks, because those suck.

Welcome back.

Re: I’m BACK!

So if you guys were starting all over with your cars, where would you go? I’m gonna stay NA for awhile. I was thinking headers on back first, but what else have you guys come across? Where to begin!! So many options!!

Depends. Probably just a k&n filter, mrt hood struts, tri ax, bassani catted x, magnaflow cb, michelins, h&r springs, and tint.

I wouldn't do headers out there in California, or anything that would require a tune or be mechanically different than stock under the hood. Passing emissions is becoming the biggest deal there these days. Might want to read up on it. Keep your stock h pipe (might have to put it back on when it's time to pass smog), tune and egr system!

Re: I’m BACK!

Ugh good point, read up about that stuff the other day, but was thinking I’ll just deal with it... was thinking about the bbk setup with catted x but I know the headers are a kill shot. Definitely the tri-ax, I like the other suggestions too, keep em coming

Re: I’m BACK!

Welcome back.

With the automatic I hear you want to install a circle D or similar type 3,500 stall torque converter and maybe some better gears in the rear. I've done the gears but have yet to upgrade the converter myself. Might do it over the winter.

Good luck

Re: I’m BACK!

My first mod would be a short throw shifter, then cat-back or weld in mufflers. Then I would go with springs (for me Eibach pro kit) and full length sub-frame.

Forgot to add that on my list, tint and MRT hood struts.
I agree on the emissions part, which can be a pain.
While I loved having O/R H-pipe, I prob do different exhaust tips (love the SLP ones) and single chamber flows.

The single chamber flows sound really good with the stock h pipe. Had that combo back in 07-08. I could definitely rock that setup if I was OP and living in California. The slp tips are awesome too, had those at one point in a catback when I was IRS swapped, but they're $200 now if you buy them outright!
