Re: Trivia for today
I believe the third question was the approximate distance between two buildings on Shelby's grounds. I.e. 350 feet.
And GT500 was 500 pounds heavier than the 350.

Re: Trivia for today
Correct answer on the third question.
Still waiting on correct answers for the other three. ( A lot of people think the Boss '9 had the biggest carb, but it shared the 735cfm with the Cobra Jet in '69 and '70. There was one bigger.)

2. 1969/70 Boss 302's came with 780 CFM's as opposed to most other HiPo (428/429's) only had 735's. 3. "350" was the distance to a building Shelby asked a fellow when they were trying to come up with a name. 4. As far as "500", never really saw or heard but it was a natural progression as many Fords had "500" in there names back then like Galaxy 500 and Fairlane 500 for example. Many cars used numbers in there designations to imply something bigger like horsepower, torque, or size. Shelby probably thought that if people thought the "350 or 500" were horsepower numbers, so much the better (LOL). As a side note, back in about 2005 or 2006 at Carlisle, Ford had a prototype GT-500 on display. The horsepower number had not been finalized but magazines like Car and Driver and Road & Track were guessing and printing 450 hp. I was talking to one of the Ford engineers standing around and asked the "horsepower question". He just smiled and said, "See that number on the side," as he pointed to the GT-500 stripe, "That should match". Sure enough, once they were release the rating was 500 hp.

Re: Trivia for today
'78 King Cobra
Boss 302 Distance from the meeting room to the shop. It sounded bigger than anything anyone else was doing (i.e., 426, 427, 440, etc.)

Re: Trivia for today
What the heck, it lives again!
As you may all know when the first Mustang GTs were offered they all came with V8s. New GTs also come with the mighty 5.0 V8s standard. The question for today: What year(s) did the GT have other engines than V8s available?

I thought the ‘64.5 Mustang had a 6 cyl engine?! I thought they added the V8 option by the time they were selling in 65.

Re: Trivia for today
Too bad the internet doesn't tell you everything.
I will tell you two years is not the right answer. And turbos weren't always involved.

Re: Trivia for today
The three years that getting a GT didn't guarantee a V-8 were 82, 83 and 84. The original 82 GT came with a normally aspirated 4 cyl., inline 6 or either a 255 V8 with an automatic or a mighty 157hp 302 2v four speed combo. This changed late in the model year when the 5.0 became the only engine. Then in 83 and 84 you could get the turbo 4. In 85 the 5.0 became again the only engine.
