Re: 31 Spline FRPP Cobra Trac Loc is junk
It won't go back together even without the added shim. I don't have any carrier shims thinner than .025. Going to try to locate some tommorrow. Have you ever had to use thinner shims because I can't install the spider gear with the washers? It'll only go together without them. It's that tight.

Re: 31 Spline FRPP Cobra Trac Loc is junk
FRICTION MODIFIER MAKES IT SLIP MORE!!!!!
so adding friction modifier will be closer to 1 wheel peel you can also switch to dyno oil if you need it to lock more because the synthetic is already super slippery so its a double whammy to run friction modifier |

Dang. Maybe your clutches are still really new and thick. You will have to play around with the shims.
And to the above, That's why I went to conventional nonsythetic gear oil. Sent with a shot of DROID go fast

Re: 31 Spline FRPP Cobra Trac Loc is junk
828, is your car street driven alot or mainly track?? I put in friction modifier and Lucas Syn and I can verify I have equal length marks on the pavement...just wondering if this is one of those "could do for one and not another" deals.

Re: 31 Spline FRPP Cobra Trac Loc is junk
It sees weekend duty mostly, I have raced it on the roadcourse, and I drag race it. I'm going to take it on a 450 mile road trip this weekend.

Re: 31 Spline FRPP Cobra Trac Loc is junk
Just went down the road with it and WOW! 4.56 is where it's at even compared to 4.30. Trac loc feels pretty snug with very little slow turn bind. Nice even 2 wheel burnout once again! Shooting for Wednesday test/tune. I'll update. Thank you for all the helpful advice to everyone especially 828.

Glad to hear it went well. 4.56 gears are awesome, I loved them when I was NA.

Re: 31 Spline FRPP Cobra Trac Loc is junk
Man....I hate to say this....on my 2nd pass, the LR stopped spinning midway thru the burnout. On the street it worked perfect,it still does. Just seems once the tires start to see heat and grab(MT DR's) the LR stops. I still really appreciate all the helpful input but I think I'm going to try the Tru Trac.Been doing a little research and it seems like its the way to go. I see the results capt.m had thru old posts and you tube vids. My combo isn't as quick as he is but I want dead on reliability. Oh, I still managed a 12.62 @ 111.12 on that pass(crappy 1.85 60).Still no spray.

Re: 31 Spline FRPP Cobra Trac Loc is junk
Dang. That sucks. I am surprised it stopped spinning. I've done 2nd gear burnouts with 10.5" MT Drag Slicks with this tlok.

Re: 31 Spline FRPP Cobra Trac Loc is junk
I'm very surprised myself. It's works GREAT on the street. I'm running 275/50 MT DR's @ 14 psi, 2nd gear burnouts and it's doing this only at the track when it starts to bite. Also I'm going to try 28x11.5 MT ET streets (bias ply)to get my '60 where it should be along with a Tru Trac. Thank you once again for your helpful info...It's appreciated.

Re: 31 Spline FRPP Cobra Trac Loc is junk
I've been getting 1.48 60s in my '98 with that diff, but I may have rebuilt it with standard frictions. This is on MT 275/50-15 drag radials and it's been together for 5 years now. I have heard that while carbon fiber holds up to abuse well, it actually is not as sticky as the standard friction material. Its common to hear about this in regard to transmission bands.
