Re: New Project "R" thread

I will have to get under the car and get the transmission serial number,
then somehow get another invoice with the info.
I assume Tremec DOES put serial numbers on them.

I sent them about 20.
Start to finish.

Re: New Project "R" thread

Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time. I realize regulations are designed to ensure that vehicles are roadworthy, but common sense would tell anyone that your car is meticulously constructed with NO shortcuts and that all the parts are there that make up a safe, roadworthy vehicle. It sounds like you are getting the runaround. Sometimes people like that take joy in making other people jump around just because they can.

Re: New Project "R" thread

I just want to legally drive the car.
Besides, Al keeps asking me "Did you get on it yet?"
He is curious as to the cam/intake CR package.
Once it is legal, I am going to Vero and let him take it around the block or so.

Ive done the 1st inspection for kit cars in N.C. before. We were required to call the DMV and they would set up an inspection. This usually took 2 or 3 tries just to meet up .
BTW.. A Friend had a 66 Corvette that he had restored for 5yrs,same thing about the engine, except his was not the original motor. So of course the number was not the same. However the worse thing was the original serial was on a frame rail under the body. Yep..we had to remove the body from the car so he could see the number for himself. We had to set it up for the a 4th time to get the body off. Finally ready to go... It took the guy 3 hrs to complete his final inspection.Thats why i said Good luck ..i mean it too !

Re: New Project "R" thread

The Florida inspector kept asking me if the body had a serial number,
and I told him no it does not have one anywhere.
I even sent him pics of the car on a trailer when I brought it home.

Re: New Project "R" thread

Still waiting on some papers from a couple of folks,
then try again with DMV.
Cruising and show season coming up, hope to be a part of it all.
The wait is killing me, seems like it.

It would be killing me too. All that time and effort you put into that thing and you can't drive it. I kind of feel your pain. My car has been down since last July (my only car), but it's looking like I'll get it back next weekend (with FR500 cams)

Good luck Steve....Hopefully they give you the knod. Your car is probably built with more care and integrity than a run of the mill GT or Cobra that has ever left the assembly line. I hope they recognize that and let you through because your car is by far one of the most amazing cars out there.....

Re: New Project "R" thread

Still waiting on some specific paperwork.
Hopefully soon.
Had a guy from Fl. east coast stop by today (from another board),
he was sort of shocked on how RED the car is.
Pics on the interweb thingy make it look sort of orange.
Motor fired right up, and the cams are sounding wicked.

that will be good to get the paperwork in, did you have any ideal on how much longer it will take?

Re: New Project "R" thread

That is up to the DMV after he gets the paperwork,
then he "said" they will send an inspector here to the house.
Just waiting on DMV.
Hopefully they will approve.
I already have 2 insurance Co. choices,
I think the guy I spoke with about the car is not familiar with Fords.
When I got my Mach 1 inspected a few years ago (Salvage to rebuilt title),
they said this car would be no big deal.
I specifically asked at that time.

Re: New Project "R" thread

So far got most of the papers needed for DMV round 2.
I had to sell the brand new airbags I bought,
and get another set from a known VIN.
Crazy.................................
Hope to have the last part this week,
then certified mail to DMV (again) and wait to see if all is OK.
The inspection, etc......................
Still trying here folks.

Sort of, but waiting for others is the time delay.
