Re: My P1SC kit, what do I need????
Hey guys, I made an appointment on Monday to go back to Kurgan and just basically dyno car and see what she is running #'s wise. I have had the seed planted in my mind with the 3.73 vs 4.10 issue I had (see other thread). When I went for the first tune I had the Zoom clutch that I suspect was slipping (I remember Bob had said on first pull it blew thru the clutch). Plus then I had no idea about the whole tuning thing but after almost year and half, I know alot more about what is going on thanks to alot of members (you guys know who you are ). I also want to see if maybe I can have some options opened on handheld for fan temp, gear swaps, etc. Is there anything else you guys can think of to ask/look for to take full advantage of this opportunity of putting car back on dyno? I know I can't drive worth a crap, but I see so many with HP #'s much lower running 11's with ease, really want to see what she puts down now with some improvement/changes I have made. Yes I could just go to a dyno and make some pulls, but I still feel in my area Kurgan is the go to guy and he is worth the 5 hour drive to see again, hell, at least no trailer this time ...thanks guys.

Re: My P1SC kit, what do I need????
Some things I like to do before tuning:
Fresh plugs Fresh fuel filter Clean maf with maf cleaner Make sure air filter is clean Before a road trip: All fluids are topped Tire pressure is checked/adjusted and tires all look good Did you ever check your charge piping/couplers for leaks?

Re: My P1SC kit, what do I need????
I went ahead and changed plugs (TR6 @.030), cleaned HPX MAF and changed fuel filter. While on dyno Kurgan noticed a certain area under the car had oil. It was only on passenger side on A/C pulley, bottom of ABS and fan shroud. Last night I jacked up car and cleaned it all and started looking for the cause. 01YellerCobra said to check crankshaft position sensor o ring but that was fine. I pulled off blower inlet pipe and found oil in the elbow. I think what was happening was I have a Steeda oil sep between passenger valve cover and nipple on inlet pipe. Blowby had , at upper boost, been sucking oil thru the sep, into blower, and it was/is seeping out hose coming off blower outlet, so I imagine there is probably oil in my intercooler. As a fix for now, I removed both seps, capped off intake nipple and put on 2 breathers. On our cars when you remove PCV valve there is no grommet (like the Cobra guys have, no heated PCV for them) to push in breather, so I did this
Of course, the chrome had to go Also, after reading alot of past threads, I went with a 5W30 oil change and also drained and replaced blower oil. When I started the car as it heated up smoke started coming out of the passenger breather, so not positive yet but I think I found my issue (141,000 miles, some blow by). I tightened all clamps and plan in the future to go and change clamps since I have no idea how old they are since I bought a used kit. Next will be a catch can instead of the oil seps. http://shop.bobsautosports.com/Unive...r-kits_c23.htm Thanks to JamieR and 01yellercobra for enduring my text and ******* questions and for the link for a catch can.

Re: My P1SC kit, what do I need????
depends on how much smoke, there was nothing wrong with my engine and I could see oil vapor coming out of the breathers from time to time.
a compression test would tell you whats up

lol true and its making right what you would expect it too so wouldnt think it could be too bad. I think certain weather conditions make it more visible as well

Re: My P1SC kit, what do I need????
Round 2 I pulled drivers side valve cover today, only took 4 hours this time, Felpro gasket looks brand new, I could tell no way bolts were torqued down (friggin cheap Tektron ), will do by feel when new Motorcraft gasket comes in, also will be running 2 catch cans
I also got this in today for track days..$88 shipped from Amazon

Re: My P1SC kit, what do I need????
Gasket in (13 hours reassembling), no leaks so far, did a coupla light hard pulls, no oil in drivers side catch can, about 1/2 oz from passenger can. They came matte black, I painted Hi temp. Hard part was fabrication , mounts and line fittings, can was universal, running 5/16" from valve cover, then 3/8 " hose to air inlet on passenger side, vacuum intake port with check valve on drivers side with a new non-gutted PCV. Also, Motorcraft gasket from Tasca Ford was NOT like the FelPro. The FelPro took awhile to get in due to how much longer it was than the cover, Motorcraft went right in, had to only scrunch up about 1/2 ", much better. Also went around AGAIN and tightened clamps, need to get new ones or put nylon nuts, I just hate ordering clamps, I always get the wrong size

Re: My P1SC kit, what do I need????
Larry, I was thinking of you when I picked up my new toy; err tool. I decided I wanted better visibility into my motor and its health and purchased a leak down tester. Then... I thought of you.
Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00 It is an OTC Cylinder Leakage Tester Kit #5609 and was only 75.00 on Amazon. Ordered it last night and got it today. Reviews seem good and many people commented that this is the same one that Matco sells just different color gauges and branding. It is a 100psi unit, do not get the harbor freight one, it is only 15psi capable. Personally, I did not realize these were so cheap and personally those of us that make power should have one of these in our tool box.

Re: My P1SC kit, what do I need????
Good find Darell, looks like I am buying myself a early Christmas gift, thanks for thinking about me...I think lol:smack Would I also have to do compression test as well? Also last night I tightened down clamps again, saw close to 10 psi at 6700 rpm, I have to look at P1 parts list and start replacing clamps, or at least go to nylon nuts, 2 on TB took about 10 good rstchets to get good an tight.

Great read ....thanks !! I never did post Kurgan numbers, at 6250 rpm car made 7.90 lbs boost...454 hp/416Tq (Note: Kurgan stopped pull at 6250 due to oil problem and sure he didn't want car blowing up on dyno), at 6700 rpm, by gage I am seeing close to 10 psi, I am getting oil only in passenger side can

How come you didn't use 1 can and tie the two together? I guess you can isolate sides better the way you have it and give yourself more time in between dumping the cans. But I know those bobs cans aren't cheap.
