Wouldn't leave you hanging...except that I'm on vacation this week, and I'll be leaving the computer at home while I enjoy (?) the Ford 100 celecbration...now, can I have my brain back so I can use this week...I hate using it (wasting it?) at work, but this is important!

The Colorado Special was a stright 6cin fastback with bucket seats in it with bright red paint call Colordado Red , in 1970 sold in CO area. Look like a 70 MACH1 but had 6 cin in it. Ford made 251 of them 1970:THUMBSUP:

Hey! I thought that was my job!?
In addition to the other 'special' editions listed, there is also a listed Red Bird/Cardinal Special for Va. and N.C. for their state birds, as well as a Bluebonnet Special for Texas. Although I haven't been able to locate any information on the Colorado Special, there were so many specials built that I have no doubt of its' validity. In fact, the was a special '69 Mustang built called the '600', unfortunately it wasn't very sucessful and little over 500 were actually made, all either red or green.

The high country specials were also made in 66 and 67. When I had my gt/cs some friends from littleton co. had a 68 hcs, both our cars were practicly identical. Both red/white, red deluxe interiors, 289 2v, mine was 4spd and theirs auto. Had a lot of fun at shows with them. They called the gt/cs a poor mans Shelby.

What is it with GT/CS's and the red/white combo? Almost every one I've seen has been that color combo! There was a local guy who not only had one that way, but also made up a GT/CS convertible the same colors. The rarest GT/CS was the 428 CJ, of course. Also, the High Country was available in '68 as well.

I have a theory on this. I have a color brochure and the rare post card for the gt/cs. The color combo on these is the red/white. I believe people tend to get the colors that are in the pictures because they can actually see what the car looks like.

See ya' after the show!

For today; What is the name of facility that built the '69 and '70 Boss 429 Mustangs?(Basically mating the drivetrain to the car as well as installing any other special equipment on already manufactured 428 CJ Mustangs to make them Boss 429's) Bonus: What was the name of company Ford used in the '60's to bulid special show cars or prototypes?(The most visible being the yellow '69 Boss 302, which had Mag-Star wheels as well as quad-tips, neither of which could be had on the Boss 302). Extra Bonus;(While we're on the subject of Bosses) What was the name of the option package for '70 that included either '69 or shortened '70 style Boss 302 stripes without the nomenclature? (If anybody else wants to put out any questions, as Frank has, please feel free...this is for everybody's enjoyment ! )

Kar kraft for the Boss 429. I think the non Boss striped cars were called "Grabbers". I'm gonna take a guess that it was A.O. Smith Co. They did work on the 68 and 69 Shelby's.

Right on the $ for the Boss 429, as well as the '70 Grabber package. The outside source that built many Ford special projects cars was Dearborn Steel Tubing, including the Fairlane Thunderbolt.

The Capri RS was actually begun in '82 (I nearly bought a Black Magic RS 5.0 instead of the '82 GT that I did purchase) and continued until its' demise in'86, the '84-'86 cars had a bubble back glass, very different than the relatively flat Mustang back glass used on earlier years.

The bubble backs are just not my style. My old neighbor had an '82 I think with a straight six in it. Nice little car. Was getting ready to put a 302 in it when he totalled in one night on his way home from work. The pin for the steering lock engaged while he was driving down the interstate and he met the retaining wall at 55 mph.

Still has that rebuilt 302 sitting on the stand in his garage. I keep bugging him to sell it to me but no go YET.

I thinkin', I'm thinkin'! Seems like Jack Roush was doing some road racing (as an owner) about that time. I seem to recall drivers being Tom Gloy, Lyn St. James (who was signing at the Ford 100), Willy T. Ribbs, and Klaus Ludwig but they were mostly Ford Mustang drivers, which was really about the same cars, much like the current Jaguar Trans Am racers.
