Re: Die -cast cars

I just picked up the Johnny Lightning '65 2+2 Fastback. Red with White stripes. I also jusy picked up a Hot Wheels 1970 Mach 1. It too looks like the real thing. You may have seen them, it comes in a clear plastic cylinder shape type packaging.

Re: Die -cast cars

I've got the Mach 1. It was a Sears/K Mart exclusive, although I've heard they've turned up in other places from time to time. There is a '67 Shelby in that series that I've tried to find with no luck. Hate to do the ebay thing for, but may haveno choice if I really want it.
The new JL series that includes the '65 you got has a Futura (Batmobile precursor)that I managed to grab both versions (the wheels are different) in the standard black as well as a white lightning in the hubcap version. The new packaging is really nice, and they're tunring out some really nice cars as well.

Angry Re: Die -cast cars

have any of you guys bought the autoart 04 mach 1 comp orange diecast........ I've bought 2 (one from ebay another from a online diecast shop) and neither is anywhere near to being comp orange. I looked on autoarts site and the number is correct for being orange, I guess they are colorblind or something.

Re: Die -cast cars

The Autoart Azure Blue Mach 1 isn't very close to the true colour either. It's still pretty cool to have a die-cast of your Mustang though...

The DSG from Auto art is pretty close to the real color. At least I think so.

Re: Die -cast cars

My friend has 2 boys and he gets them on the weekends.
One of them loves my Mach and he's about 8 or 9 years old
when he comes over he gets restless...so I let him "Detail"
my cars with some qwick detailer and a microfiber. He does
a great job. He always saves the Mach for last.

The bad part.

He detailed the Mach and was carrying it very carefully
like it was made of glass...held up in his hands so proud...
and my **** shepard who is a little bossy decided to nip his heels,
knocked the kid down...and the Mach went flying into the air....
came down nose first and was totalled. Cracked the cowl and broke
the front windshield. The front doors won't open anymore and I think
it's dead.

I need to get a new one.

Boy, that kinda sucks. At least like you said, you can go out and buy another one. It must have hit the floor pretty hard to make it that the doors won't open.

Re: Die -cast cars

I found some pics from my old place of some of the diecast collection I have. The curio cabinet and the computer desk or not shown and of course I bought plenty more after these were taken. As you can see, most of these are NASCAR. This was well before I was collecting Mustang stuff and before I even owned a Mustang. The pics aren't the greatest but I didn't have a digital camera back then either. This is probably about half of what I own now.

Re: Die -cast cars

Nice collection and nicely laid out. I never got into the NASCAR collecting, probably because there is soooo much out there. I do have a gold Bill Elliott T-Bird, a Bass Pro Shop Earnhardt car, and my favorite of the three, a Mark Martin #6 Batman Owners Series car from Batman Begins and the Batman 400. Actuall, I have two. Might sell one soon...

Re: Die -cast cars

Got my 1:18 GT-H on Friday. It's from the Shelby Collectibles series and has some highs and lows. The paint is very good, the detail is better than expected even down to the Shelby specific dash plaque between the center vents. The wheels look well proportioned but are too shiny compared to teh real grey Bullitts that the actual car came with. It does have the FRPP intake and strut tower brace. My main gripe is the headlight buckets. Behind the clear plastic is all chrome, the light as well as the surround. May sound trivial, but it looks cheap. I don't know if this is a high or a low, but it is different; the (opening of course)doors have rolled up windows. Most die cast cars don't have door glass (the Ford GT being an exceptio, but the door glass and door design make this a necessity) and this makes it easy to open the door. With windows you have to use to door handles to open the doors and as flimsy as those are, it's kinda scary. It actually looks good with the windows up, but it makes the funcion of the opening doors a bit unnerving.
Pics to follow...whenever I get my own computer back...

Re: Die -cast cars

I can't wait to see the pics. Sounds kinda interesting. I just picked up another Bad Ridez mustang from WalMart the other day. Now i have a green one with a blower, a red with black stripes, a silver with black stripes, white with red stripes, blue with white stripes, and a yellow GT-R with black stripes. Everytime I think I have all the colors, I find another one so I have to buy it. I also just got a orange 1:18 scale 1970 Boss 429 from a company called Motor Max. It is their American Graffiti series. It has pretty good detail but the only little thing I don't like about it is the American Graffiti logo on the drivers side quarter panel.

Re: Die -cast cars

The only 1 Badd Ridz cars I have in 1:18 are the Shelby GR-1 in red. blue and silver. I have a lot of their 1:64 stuff, GR-1s, Vipers and Mustang GTs. I am so out of room for my diecasts...

I am still trying to figure out where to get my Casino Royale DVD this Tuesday. Best Buy has a 1:64 DBS that they're giving away with it, but WalMarts special edition comes with playing cards and a casino chip. Circuit City is only giving a chip, so they're pretty much out. I'm thinking WM and trying to buy the DBS seperatly...

Hopefully you can find the DBS seperatly. A lot of that stuff is hard to find by itself sometimes.

Re: Die -cast cars

They do list it on their website as for sale seperately. I'll go by there and see if it's in store for sale. Also, I saw the new 1BaddRidz Ford GT, I've for the Jada Dub City ones and really like those. The 1BR version has a huge rear spoiler and well as a 'too deep' air dam...I'll gonna pass on those...

Who collects Die-cast. NOT ME. I don't know who these belong to but I found them down stairs in my die-cast room.

Yes. Dupont is the paint we use on our Kenworth Trucks. When Jeff G was a nobody I took him for a test ride. [ I was KW's test driver for 35 years] He was at our factory with the first Dupont Nascar on a promotion.
