This is just anecdotal but but I have lived in the same house for the past 14 years and I have never seen ice in the swimming pool. This morning it was completely iced over and had a layer of ice on top until 12:00.

Last year we had a cold snap & the wind chill was -17. I was outside for 45mins in shorts taking pictures of a Hawk! LOL

good news, though, it might get up above 10 degrees tommorow! might have to take the car out for a spin!!

of course, once I shovel out the 2 ft of snow that is still there.
