MMR intake spacer any good??
I've been wanting to raise my shaker up a bit since you can barely notice it. I heard if I buy an intake spacer it will raise the shaker and add performance?
MMR offers this spacer says 12 hp gain, is this what I'm looking for? Can anybody help with this.. thanks guys |

Re: MMR intake spacer any good??
the gain is very minimal, but for $100 and a couple (1-3 probably) hp it doesnt hurt, plus as stated, it will raise the shaker. Should also be noted, the rubber water liner around the shaker will now rub your hood I went with the 1/2"

Re: MMR intake spacer any good??
MMRs claimed gains are total bullshlt, always have been. With that, you will pick up a little power in the midrange. Check outtheir claims:
55-7hp for their ported heads 20hp for TBs 11hp MMR 96-04 GT/Cobra/Bullitt/ High performance Factory Airbox replacement kit 18rwhp electric water pump "big gains" IMRC deletes for 96-98s (this is proven to be a 3fwhp gain)

Re: MMR intake spacer any good??
I'm lost, I raised my shaker a long time ago with stainless washers guided by a thread I found here on the forum. It raised it about 1/4 to 1/2". Has something changed and this isn't the way to do it anymore?

Re: MMR intake spacer any good??
Will it require a tune? Any driveability issues? stalling? surging? etc? My car is my daily and I'd like to raise my shaker and maybe pick up a few hp. Roy how much for yours?

Re: MMR intake spacer any good??
seeing how the shaker is mounted to the back of the intake, an intake spacer will raise the back of the shaker. Youd have to space the front end up to be even

EDIT: jokes on me I guess, didnt look at the date of the original post, but none the less
that being said its a shame scammers like the OP still get to post here http://www.mach1registry.org/forums/...hlight=4vcrush http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...hlight=4vcrush for the record my post was solely to help the other members here, would not have replied to aide the OP

Thanks DSG. Do you know if I have to tune for it or if there is any drivability issues with it?

Re: MMR intake spacer any good??
There is no need for a tune. All you are doing is increasing the volume of air in the intake making it a little easier for the engine to breath.
Roy's kit used to include the spacer, two spacers for the front (to level shaker), one long bolt (required as one of the oem bolts is too short), and a gasket. Said him a PM for more details. if you're gonna get one, get one from Roy. He also does a great job on P&P the lower intake. Depending on what size you go with, the EGR tube can be a pain in the you know what. I have one of Roy's 1/2" spacers and it required starting the tube in the EGR valve (couple threads), starting the front EGR bolt, prying up on the EGR valve until the rear bolt started, and then tightening the tube. Took 20 minutes start to finish. All in all it is a great mod for the money. As na svt said the real gains are in the midrange where you really want them. Peak numbers are nice but can seldom be used on the street.

Personally I would buy the intake spacer from the member here, his username is Roy, if he still sells them. That's where I got mine from. Nice to support the small guy that makes a quality piece and a forum member.

Re: MMR intake spacer any good??
Also there are no drivabilty issues as long as you are careful and don't nick one of the gaskets causing a vaccum leak.

Re: MMR intake spacer any good??
Hey Roy, think going from the 3/8" spacer to a 1/2" spacer is worthy of doing ?
I picked up 8 midrange HP with my spacer, like 12tq. Peak HP was only 1 HP at the wheels. Def a must do mod for these cars.

Re: MMR intake spacer any good??
No not worth changing unless you just want the shaker to raise up another 1/8".
