Re: New Project "R" thread
Shimming the crossmember lowered the engine in the chassis
in relation to the body. Plus, a Mustang oil pan is on the engine, and the motor sits really nice now. I think the way it currently sits, it might even clear a stock GT or standard Mustang hood! There is no trans in the car yet, and the Eibach springs are installed. Front shot: Driver side of engine bay. Plenty of room, and the steering is just fine now. Trimmed the widest part of 2000 Cobra exhaust manifolds for clearance. Also, figured a way for the hydroboost to clear the cam cover. (devious!)

The hard part is coming soon. Headers and intake mods................... I hope my ideas actually work. I have been pretty lucky so far. I am trying to set this up so the stock air cleaner from a GT or Mach will "bolt-on".

Haha, you call that plenty of room?
Comparing the pics of before shimming and after, does show a slight difference. Nice to see that worked out for ya.

Re: New Project "R" thread
This project is truly awesome! I have been interested in a 5.4 swap for a while and this thread has been so detailed! I can't say thanks enough for this write up! I do have one question though: Why did you buy an Australian market engine? I'm not too familiar with Ford Australia, but I've heard they have some nice performance models. What kind of power does this engine make? :ORANGE:

The engine itself is a Navi crate motor, with an Aussie Boss Intake. Currently there is a set of NA Cobra exhaust manifolds (same as Mach) on the car. Only very slight mods need to be done for fitting. The Aussie headers might work with serious mods ( 3 sets here), but I am investigating other options. Once I get it all done and finalized, I am hoping to offer a "kit" to drop a 5.4 32V in a 99 -04 Stang, utilizing as many parts you already have. All vehicle wiring is 04 Mach 1 inside and out, including engine bay, etc. Once I get the trans in the car, it will be time for some seriously exhausting developments...... Actually, it isn't too bad. Better than expected, and some areas actually better than the Mach. I compare it to the Mach, and it's a tossup in other areas. Quote:

The Aussie Boss 290 is rated just shy of 400/400. They rate in Killowatts and stuff there. (290 kw) Check out www.fpv.com.au Here's a pic of the Aussie GT. Also, check out the Pursuit and Super Pursuit. New Ranchero anyone?

Re: New Project "R" thread
3 cars are definitely plenty, but I meant more like starting a project on one of them... Like making the GT a Stage 3 Roush or getting my turbo started. Something more along those lines!

Can you turn the intake around? Could it be that easy?

Re: New Project "R" thread
Almost looks like it could but I would not be surpised if only one bolt did not line up making it impossible.

but the upper will not 180 on the lower. In process of modding the lower. If the lower is turned 180, and the upper bolted to it, the air inlet (TB) will be facing the correct side, but the alternator will not clear the underside of the lower. This is because of the way the lower intake plenum floor is designed. Catch 22. Pics of hood clearance in a few...................

Re: New Project "R" thread
Clearance between the upper intake
and the underside of the FRPP 2000 "R" hood with hood closed...... (Upper and Lower intake turned around 180)

Cant wait to see it prowling the streets. Not sure if you know but there is weekly meets on teh corner of 41 and Daniels every saturday night at around 9 pm.... I know there is a few bad-*** KB cobra's and some really nice Mach's that go up there. I believe it is the Target parking lot.
