Easiest way to depressurize fuel system?

Can somebody please tell me whats the easiest way to depressurize the fuel system? Planning on changing the fuel filter. I've seen a few methods on youtube and a few on here, but I just want to know what was the easiest for you guys. Here's what I found...

1. Simply disconnect the fuel reset switch in the trunk (seems fishy)
2. Remove the fuse for the fuel pump and give her a couple of cranks
3. Or remove the fuse and let her run until she dies

And also to REpressurize it, turn the key on a few times to build up the pressure...is this correct??

Pull the fuel pump fuse under the hood and run the car until it dies. Reinstall and key on to pressurize.

I unplugged the inertia switch in the trunk while it was running. Seemed to do the trick for me.

I just hold a rag up, break the line free, and hope I don't get any fuel on my face.

tripping the inertia switch itself wont do anything, the car has to be running or try to start it afterward. Theres a one way valve system in/after the pump (varies between models) that keeps fuel in the lines when you turn the car off so it starts up quickly later.

you can also put a rag under the valve on the pass fuel rail and press it down (slowly!) with a small screw driver. You really dont get much fuel out of the valve and if you do it slow it doesnt spray out or anything.

That seems easy enough. You wouldnt happen to have a picture of that valve, would you?

Unfortunately not and I have aftermarket rails now. On the passenger side rail there should be a place sticking up with a valve stem cap on it though. It's not too hard to find or get to

I've done the pull the fuel pump fuse and start and let run till dies AND also used the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Just place some old rags around the valve or you will have gas sprayed all over your engine compartment (not good).

I think I'm going to try the fuse and the valve method. Hopefully I dont get a face full of fuel or blow myself up in the process

with the valve just put a couple rags around it and just push it down slowly and itll be fine

I let her run out of fuel and then I opened the little valve. But literally nothing came out, is that normal? I know you guys said that not much fuel comes out, but I got nothing. Not even a little "pssst"

if you let it run out of fuel there wont be enough in the rail for any to come out.

Well I spoke to soon...after I finally put in the new fuel filter today and went to start her up, I got nothing. I noticed when I switched the key on, there was no noise. I've read that its supposed to make a buzzing noise or something the first few times as it builds up the pressure. It cranks over, just wont fire up.

I'm assuming that theres no fuel pressure. Its now throwing the P1233 code which is for the FPDM. I checked the fuse for the fuel pump which is fine and that fuel reset switch in the trunk is not tripped. Your thoughts?
