Detail of my old black Mach 1

So I used to have a black Mach 1 as my first real mustang. Been through 4 others after that. I picked it up from a gentleman who had it sitting in his backyard for over 2 years. The day I picked it up i washed and detailed it. Took me the better part of 2 days to get it done, partially since I had to work outside. Hope you guys like the pics.

These are all the before's

Brought it back to life. Those were some deep scratches too. Good detailing work.

I need to have that done to mine. I could do it myself, but man, I'm just to lazy lately.

Yours turned out nice. How long did it take you?

Re: Detail of my old black Mach 1

Very nice save. Looks great!! I'm about to get started on my black car as well. I have a Flex 3401 that I work with. About to try my hand with microfiber pads for the first time on mine. What products did you use for compound/polish?

Here is some work I did on my old DSG car and on my black cobra side skirts when they came in.

Before:

After, not perfect but I was trying out my new small GG 3"polisher:

And my DSG car:

Re: Detail of my old black Mach 1

Great job!

I use a Flex 3401 for all my paint correction work.
I just tried the microfiber pad on mine with the Menzerna FG400 cutting compound. (Typically used the Lake Country CCS yellow pad).
Stuff works like magic to take out all scratches and imperfections.

I would also suggest a sanding block and some 2,000 grit wet-sanding paper followed up by 3,000 grit to remove any really bad imperfections/scratches.

I follow mine up with the Lake Country CCS pads (orange) and Menzerna 1500, then the Lake Country CCS pad (white) and Menzerna 4000.
I use the Menzerna Sealant to lock in all the hard work. Makes it slick!

Black is a BEAR to get perfect! All my black vehicles took me 1 extra day to paint correct compared to my other colored cars!

Thanks man. Ya some of the scratches were down to the primer it felt like!

All in all it took me about 14 hours. A good Ipod collection and a few energy drinks goes a long way.

Black is horrible trying to correct. I learned that half the time with black cars the surface gets marred so easily it makes you want to pull your hair out.

Nice job---what do you think the best thing for "hard" water spots would be? See signature for my paint color
Thanks for any tips!
