Opinions on color change
Okay guys I'm looking for thoughts. I have a black Mach with very poor paint (hood and fenders are done they need a respray) car has pretty low miles
My complaint is,I've seen azure blue ones and I absolutely love them. Hands down my favorite color and the black really hides the lines/looks of my car. Since my front needs a re spray, is it a total stupid idea to just paint it azure? Keeping a black engine bay? I do not want to pull the engine. I'll pull a few parts sure no problem. I know (since I have had a few) the vintage mustangs had black engine bays anyway. Am I going to hurt its value THAT much? I don't exactly plan on selling the car anyway but who knows what time will do. I just really love azure and I really can't afford to sell this one and look for another as they are rarely for sell anyway.just figured I've got the car already,82k miles is still a pretty low mile car why not just change this one to make me happy Really my only concern is its vin is a black car and it would be blue, and the bay would be black. Those are pretty much my only issues |

Re: Opinions on color change
I'd say it's yours. You should make it the way you like it. I dought it would change the value.

Re: Opinions on color change
Have fun with it. That's all that matters. Azure is a badazz color and if I ever get another to go with the oxford, that's the color it'll be.

Re: Opinions on color change
i think the black engine bay would look fine with Azure.
I dont think Id really worry about a value hit due to it not matching the vin..its not like it was kept in a bubble with 5 miles on it and its not like you're gonna be lying to anyone about it. People obviously lover the color

Re: Opinions on color change
I would consider a color that was never offered on a Mach 1. Who knows, maybe someday down the road you will have an opportunity to own a true Azure Blue one.

Re: Opinions on color change
I think the black engine bay would actually look cool with azure everywhere else. It would kinda match the theme of the black accents around the car! Matte black center stripe on the hood, black side stripes, black spoiler...

Re: Opinions on color change
There's really no other color of want. And I think azure blue is a good choice being it's a Mach only color.
Only other color id want is comp orange, calypso (sorta like azure) or gotta have it green, which may look goofy |

Re: Opinions on color change
That newer blue looks the same to me, so I just rather go with an actual Mach color. Azure is exclusive to the Mach right?

Re: Opinions on color change
Yes. Don't you have to go to DMV and get the color changed on the registration also? I saw a guy on Cops get busted for that.

Re: Opinions on color change
Screw that. My hotrod has been many colors, my truck has been many colors, my 67 was red and I painted it white, my bug was original tan and it was green, pulled over many times with no issues at all

Re: Opinions on color change
In Cali you dont have to tell DMV if you change the color of a car. At least thats what the lady at DMV told me.

Re: Opinions on color change
I've always changed my cars colors to suit my taste and have never bothered with dmv. I don't even think there's record of the color on my hotrod. My bug they had it down as blue. It was painted teal by me and was an original tan car. So that was just all over the place. It's the least of my worries. I'm just concerned if the engine bay will look stupid being black,my trunk jam and if it would sorta hurt its value or detract ppl after they seen it wasn't originally azure. At the time. This was the best Mach for sell,so it's just the color I got stuck with. It's paint is very poor condition at this point and needs a respray anyway. Figured why not make it the color I want. Also figured the old mustangs had black engine bays, so it wouldn't be that bad

Re: Opinions on color change
After painting a black car blue you will only run into ppl who are on one side or the other. Your gonna have the negative ppl pointing out all the blah blah blah, or you will have the ppl who like it. If you can't take the good with the bad then don't do it. Me, I don't care what ppl say, I do what I like. I actually would like to paint my black mach Oxford white and keep the black under hood trunk and door jambs, but that's just me.

Re: Opinions on color change
With the black , you could pull off any color. Just leave the black in the trunk compartment and engine bay, but jam the doorways Azure. What ever you decide , if you love it, that's the way it should be!

Re: Opinions on color change
03 shadow grey. Yeah I agree with you. I was going to do the door jams, and inner doors. Was considering painting the trunk but not sure. I think I would be a lot happier with it. The black is so blah and hides the cars personality I think. And as I mentioned my current paint is pretty bad anyway
