Re: brake fluid leak

I don't know if they still use it but the hoses used to come with a copper washer that goes under the head of the banjo bolt. The new hose will come with a new washer. Your's might have got brittle. Copper needs to be annealed once in a while. Over time it hardens up.

Good luck,

Steve

Re: brake fluid leak

and you may need to replace the banjo bolt too. That's not a normal bolt that you were wrenching on. It shouldn't have gorilla-type torque on it. I don't know the spec off the top of my head, but I'm sure someone here can tell ya. Those bolts are hollow and you're lucky you didn't break it by cranking on it.

EDIT: It will probably be similar to step 29 in this document....

Re: brake fluid leak

Replace the copper washer under the banjo bolt and it will be fine. You try and tighten it also, they leak sometimes. I believe you can get the copper washer at an autoparts store, I picked mine up at Ford.
