Re: Starting my Build
The letters on the COP covers will be painted to match the valve covers. The circles and line under the lettering will be getting painted too.

Re: Starting my Build
Thanks Tkat. Now I'm debating if I should powder coat the oil pan or hydro dip it carbon fiber. What you guys think? I don't like the zinc plating.

Re: Starting my Build
Is the hydro dip as durable as the powder coating? If not, I would powder coat it since it could see more debris. I kept the gold zinc coating on mine, I agree it is ugly but once it is in the car I cannot see it. I do like the look of the hydro dip.

I'm pretty sure the Hydro dip isn't as durable as the powder coating. The only thing I know about the hydro dip is that it can handle up to 400 degrees. As for the crank I'm not to sure yet. I haven't took the block to the builder yet due to him moving shops. I sent him a pic of the crank and he said he can polish that right out. But I won't really know till he sees it in person.

Pic of the CF dipped valve cover inserts. I'll be using the MMR valver cover bolts so you can see the inserts better then you would with the stock VC bolts.

Re: Starting my Build
Just got a call from the builder. The short block has been bored, honed, assembled, and balanced. He was also able to save the crank.

Re: Starting my Build
Awesome! I bet the excitement is growing now.
What block did you end up getting, was it a teksid block or a WAP?

Re: Starting my Build
Heck ya man. Excitement is definitely starting to build. I didn't even know he had got started on it yet.
I went with a WAP block I bought off a friend for a good price. I think it came off a 04 mach.

Re: Starting my Build
I only asked since I ran head into a gasket mis-match between the teksid block and the oil/coolant adapter for the WAP block, either way, make sure it mates up properly when you put this on, I got 99% done and then antifreeze leaked out. Knowing you were about to embark on the same part of the build, just thought I would give you a heads up. It is a pita right now.

Re: Starting my Build
All this time I had no idea what a WAP block was so I did some quick research
"The WAP block on the left has been cast at Windsor Aluminum Plant since 2001. The Teksid block on the right was cast in Italy from 1993 to 1999. The WAP block shows the extensive ribbing that was added to compensate for a thinner case section. The WAP block is 5 lbs lighter than the Teksid block on the right. The Teksid block is the strongest production aluminum case available." My question is I hear people talking about getting this Teksid block all the time, where are all these coming from if they have not been produced for 15 years?? Has someone else taken over production, or when I read you guys got that block for a rebuild, you guys are obtaining and using a used block?? Reading above the WAP is still being produced today? Nice build BTW, been following it, sorry for the hijack Some good reading http://www.mre-books.com/sa82/sa82_1.html
