Guess I'm lucky, so far so no rattles or ticks, although I do seem to have a problem with magnetic dirt......

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

I have a bit of the centre console vent rattle, and the passenger seat rubs on the door. Sounds like there are TSBs to have both fixed. I just crank up the stereo and don't notice!

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

Mine has been eating the sway bar bushings in the back. Weird. It causes a clunking-thud sound. Dealer replaced 'em once, but it's back in 2000 miles. Maybe it's those **** railroad tracks I fly over, plus the hard cornering. Remember, the Mach is a muscle car, not a Mercedes Benz. Don't get all nitty. In reality, these cars are put together so wham-bam fast it's amazing they don't have parts falling off. Drive it and enjoy it, noises and all. My 2¢.

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

Just got back yesterday from a car show, and some of the road getting there and back was not the best. The car was and has been rattle and squeak free from day one, hope it stays that way.

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

I have a '03 with 16k miles, I get a squeak here and there in the suspension (nowhere near as bad as on my GT), and little bit of vibration in the cabin on the dash but that's from the exhaust. Shifter rattles too but that's cause it's a tri-ax. But overall the car is pretty solid.

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

my 03 has 27k on it, it's going to the dealer next week for a loud rattle somewhere in the rear. It almost sounds like a loose or broken shock on the passengers side. The car still handles well... Just had 4 new tires and an alignment done. Otherwise this car is squek free.

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

Mine only makes a little vibe noise in the middle vent section when engine and exhaust is cold and I drive it before warmup, when pipes get hot all is quiet except for the thunder I like hearing too much.

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

The only complaint I have with Ford is.... The front end on their vehicles squeak alot. Our '04 Mach does it, our '97 T-bird did it, and I had a '98 Ranger that did it. If I took the Ranger Off-road and got back on blacktop you would have thought it was falling apart for about 100-150 miles! It must be those rubber bushings. Our '03 Lightining was squeak free.

Mine was quiet for about 10k miles. Now it seems like I get a new squeak or rattle evry 1k miles or so. It's really annoying.

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

Mine has 38k miles and sounds like the rear brakes are clunking when I take off slowly from a light or turn left after a stop light. It also has a slight rattle SOMEWHERE thats giving me fits too. Dealer and everyone else I've taken it to has no idea what the clunk is or the rattle. maybe they are just ignoring it. It also feels like the brakes are still on when this happens. But I'm being lead to beleive its all imaginary in my mind. geesh. Any help with this!

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

My 03 Mach 1 is definately a rattlebox. Less then 10K miles and that cheap plastic interior creaks and rattles every time I drive it. Only remedy is turning up the stereo. Have been getting less and less happy with the car. Probably one reason I don't post much anymore. May end up getting rid of it.

Car has also developed a significant oil leak that appears to be either the oil pan gasket or the rear main seal. All the dealer will say is the oil drain plug is loose. Bunch of BS there as they just don't want to fix it or honor the extended warranty.

MoodyM, sounds like the same famous dealership ignoring my clunking sound.

There are no bushings for the rear sway bar. If your dealer's telling you that, get another opinion! They're attached to the lower control arms on either side, and nowhere else. The front sway bar has bushings in the center and in the links on the outside. The center bushings on alot of Fords seem to squeak, as noted.

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

My '03's odometer just turned to 10k. No squeaks or rattles yet. Maybe my exhaust and engine are so loud I just can't hear them?

Re: Is your Mach a rattle trap?

The console peice that you remove to get to the shifter rattles like a S O B and drives me crazy!

Theres a squeek from the front suspension.

And on the highway about 70-80 there's a buzzing or something that I'm not really sure what it is, goes away when I get off the gas and mainly only hear it at those speeds... So I just go faster lol
