Re: Poll:Who does and doesn't have the "tick"

Both of my 04 has a light tick. Blue mach1 old lady crashed me by rear ending me. My red mach is doing good got it with 4000 now has 30,500 miles. Yes both of had the light tick after it got up to temp. It's never gotten worst think it maybe a injector noise or slight rocker/lifter noise.

I seen a video of a 03 cobra that had a nasty tick it was caused by a valve guide beening out.

Ford told me theres nothing wrong thinking. Maybe I should by the extra warranty before the factroy warranty runs out. I got intell March 25 2007 or before 36,000 miles. Or fix it myself since I'm a tech if something happens. Dealing with warranty can be a pain in the *** at times. I know because I see it everyday at work they will pay for this but not that.

Re: Poll:Who does and doesn't have the "tick"

I had a tick in the left bank right after I bought my mach in August '03. The dealer ended up replacing that head, due to the TSB. They pulled the motor out to change the head and after all that work, it was still ticking. Ending up being a bad lifter... oh well.

03 auto 68000 tick just started very noticeable on the drivers side. Have got to figure this out. Driving me crazy.

What weight oil are you using now?

Are you do for an oil change? Try next thicker oil.
Spark plug loose?
Vacuum leak?

If none of these, you're screwed Just kidding. Try the spark plugs first then the thicker oil.

Re: Poll:Who does and doesn't have the "tick"

Thanks. Would you recommend replacing the plugs or just making sure they're tight? Also what kind of oil would you suggest? Thanks a lot.

If the plugs are new, check for loose ones. Be sure to use anti-seize.

If you use 5w20 oil try 5w30.

I just did an oil change to full synthetic Mobil1 5w 30 and did an additive for engine click. Sound is still there so spark plugs are up next.

Re: Poll:Who does and doesn't have the "tick"

92k absolutely one of the smoothest motors I've own. Motorcraft semi 5-30w oil and filter. Factory clutch still strong no shifter rattle, smooth runner.

Re: Poll:Who does and doesn't have the "tick"

Well my car doesn't have the tick and the sound was indeed the exhaust manifolds but now a similar gassy smelling sound is back once again so it's back to the shop
