I would also like to know!
I have a sony cybershot that captures mpeg videos in a high quality 640 x 480. But I would like to transfer videos from my Hi8 camcorder. I believe you need a video card to do that. Or buy a digital camcorder. MiniDv. I'm not sure. Anyone?

A digital camcorder is the easy way but you can also buy a video transfer card like snappy or other kits from best buy..

Most of the new (digital) camcorders use firewire. If you don't have a firewire connection on your PC, you can add a PCI card with it on for $20-$30. If you have an older camcorder and only have composite video output, you need to either have a card in your PC to accept it, or buy an adapter which you will plug your red, white, and yellow into one end, and the other end is usually USB which I assume you have. I work at Circuit City part time... let me know if I can be of further assistance.

you have to capture it with adobe premire. Best editing tool ever, you can put music, captions, and other good stuff.

I also have a sony cybershot that does the mpeg's. All I do is plug it into the pc with the supplied usb cable, and copy the movies over to my pc like I was copying the pics.
For copying over to pc from an older style camcorder, there are a few options. You can buy a video card with a video input, or you can buy an external thing(the name escapes me right now) that has inputs for all kinds of audio and video. I've seen the thing at CompUSA, and I think at Best Buy too. I think it was like $80 or so. You could prolly find it online cheaper though. Last edited by CrumpledMidget; 05-22-2004 at 06:22 PM. |
