One is the lonliest Number!

I have been on here of late only to find I am the only member on here with a handful of visitors. There are a few of us Core members but not anywhere like it use to be. I know our cars are aging and most owners are now 3rd and 4rth to own them. If it not for Falcongtho3 , there would not be any sign of ownage to this site, and he is not even the owner. Maybe with a new Mach 1 from Ford it will resurrect some of the glory days.

Re: One is the lonliest Number!

I still check in at least once a day but nothing noteworthy to add most of the time.

If there is a new Mach1 it might draw some traffic but honestly most of it's on stupid Facebook now. Most of the forums that are doing well its the general BS areas driving most of the traffic.

Agreed, social Media has just about killed magazines too!

the worst thing about FB etc... is the tech knowledge is so scattered it's hard to dig it back up again and 99.9% of people don't even try to search. I think the number of people utilizing search on forums is a lot higher.

Print is hard to keep alive - if we can all see everything going on right now who the hell wants to see it in a magazine 3 months later? Everything gets leaked via social media and such so it's not like magazines can really keep anything under wraps unless it's their own internal project.

Re: One is the lonliest Number!

I'm just a throwback that doesn't do the FB thing. I'm here at least twice a day checking in and glad to see those who do show up. I still think in the long run this is the place to be. The amount of knowledge and history here, as well as the photos in the gallery make it worth hangin on to.

Re: One is the lonliest Number!

Since I re acquired a Mach I've been on here more, usually once a day to check in.
Must say for a two year production car traffic on here is a lot less than the mercurymarauder site I'm on, more daily post on there for a two year run car.

I had some lean years on the boards but have never stopped visiting. Even having 7 years of no Mach 1 in my driveway this was the place to be. I see people complain about the this site for a few lame reasons. Like being told to search the answer and not just giving it to them. And I guess getting on the forums is not as convenient as an FB phone app. I am usually on this site when sitting in front of a computer and not so much on my phone. I agree maybe a new Mach 1 will have a boost in activity. The picnic we do at Carlisle would not be so easy to set up on FB, and I had a few FB people offer to bring items and never show up. So I request everyone to get on the registry and post on our thread for Carlisle. I check in a few times a few week here but don't write things just to make a post. (not like I used too when I was post whoring) lol

Re: One is the lonliest Number!

Hello everyone, I'm part of the problem. I haven't been on this forum in ages. I'm an original owner and one of the lucky ones to see it being assembled back in the day. I've barely gotten over 12k miles on it. The miles I did put on it has been fun though...Mustangs Across America Event (partial) and during the 50th celebration in Charlotte when a small group of us from work cruised down together from Dearborn. One of the highlights of that was following Art Hyde there. A lot of good memories in that car. Now i'm debating on trying to sell her to finance a GT350. Decisions.

Re: One is the lonliest Number!

I check the site at least once a day. Just nothing to post about. If someone does post a question all they really have to do is search and it has been answered 10 times since I joined... 16 years ago! I don't want to be that guy that always posts, 'do a search' or 'its already been answered please search!' haha! Actually I have posted that a few times.. lol

If the Mach 1 was produced over the years like the Bullitt has been I am sure this site would be booming.

This site is awesome for info but our cars and original owners like myself, really don't have much to add that hasn't been said in the last 17 years the site has been going!

And it's Winter here! haha

Have a great day all, new and old! Greg Fonger (gfong)

Re: One is the lonliest Number!

I was tardy to the forum party. I didn't join any Mustang forums until 2012. I had an 88GT around 2005 for a couple of years and didn't even think to look for something like a forum LOL. I was just excited to see a website like 50resto.com haha. Anyway, once I got my Mach 2012, M1R was the first forum I joined. After the first year or so, I really feel like I missed the good years of forums. Even then, it seemed like all the forums out there were seeing less and less traffic. I really like the format and value of the forums and M1R has always been my favorite. I even tried to start a Mustang forum with a couple other fellas. There's just so many other ways the younger crowd tends to be drawn to. I hope this one never goes away!

Re: One is the lonliest Number!

I log in every day, sometimes twice a day. I'm just not technical or mechanical but I enjoy washing and waxing my Mach to keep it as clean and nice as I can. So I just don't have much to add.

I've also have had the opportunity to meet maybe 7 -8 members (and past members) on here. I would have never met them without the Mach.

I had a flat a week or so ago. Discount Tire wouldn't fix it because my tires were 12 years old . Only had 10k miles on them but they looked brand new with as much tire prep as I've put on the tread and sidewalls. Time flies when you're having fun.

Reminds me of when we met at the Bullitt/Mach 1 Shootout in ~2012. You had a bottle of detailer in one hand and a microfiber in the other and was gettin after it. Met Mach351 and ash302 that same day also.

If you want to feel like you're on an active forum again just go into the older threads and read around. It's still hoppin in there! Just don't expect anyone to talk back.

Re: One is the lonliest Number!

Honestly still come on a couple times a week. Drive the car pretty much daily still. Even with the my GT in the garage the Mach still gets the nod.
I have found those times as well that I am the only one on here.
Do miss the great and vast conversations we once had. Besides after almost 17 years on here I am just shy of 5k posts... need some more activity so I can break the 5k mark lol

Yes, I really enjoyed the Bullitt / Mach 1 meets. That was where I met most of the members from here including the infamous Mach1Marauder http://mach1registry.org/forums/member.php?u=1416. The guys with Bullitts were older and interested in drinking beer in the hotel parking lot and the guys with Machs were younger and interested in seeing how fast they could go in the quarter-mile.

I can also say I have met the top 4 forum posters from this site. I'm in the top 100 coming in at # 68.

Re: One is the lonliest Number!

Yes this place is FILLED with excellent info. Not as much action as a few years ago but I've been logging on a few times a week now that I have a Mach back in my garage after a few years without one.

The sad part is as I try and make this Mach like my old one, I realize all these parts have become rare and hard to find...

Cdc floor mats
Black billet fuel door
10th ann cobra wheel and shifter boot
Retro guage bezels

I'm constantly looking for all these!

I have completely brought my engine bay back to OEM, and you are right! If not for E-Bay and members on the Reg, I would not have found what I was looking for. The air silencer so many of us threw away isn't even on the exploded view of parts at the Ford Parts counter! I do still have an after market CAT back, and although I love the sound. I do miss the Factory rolled tips and that it was Factory throughout!
