285 on a 10" rim?

Hi
Hey would a 285 40 17 work well with a 10.5" rim?
Anyone running this combo?

that sounds super narrow on a 10.5 rim imho. Pretty much everyone runs a 315 on a 10.5 rim

I was looking at the specs and it's like 11 1/4 at the width so thought it might be ok on a 10" rim. But no?

Actually if you look at these posted spec on that size tire, it is done on a 10" rim. A 10" will be well within spec and pretty much the recommended size rim for it.

Yea, It shows the 315 on a 12" - 12.5" rim
I checked a bunch of charts and they are all about the same

However ASF advises to run a 315 on there 10.5

Re: 285 on a 10" rim?

Ford runs a 315 section tire on an 11" wide rim on the back of the rear of the new Mach 1 with the handling pack, so that sounds about right.

I have a 285/35r18 on the Mach on an 18x10 FR5. Fits perfectly. Also did a wheel swap on my 21 and did a 285/35r19 on the 19x10 up front.
