Shifter Problem!!!
Ive been driving the Mach around this past weekend and a new problem has been occuring alot. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd, the shifter will jam. It sort of locks me out of 3rd. When this happens i have to let off the shifter, let it go back to its neutral position and then put it into 3rd again. This time it goes in. Is there any way to fix this problem????
Bobby

Get an aftermarket shifter with a stiffer centering spring.

Re: Shifter Problem!!!
Major tranny issues aside, perhaps it's your shifting. Allow the shifter to do its work. If you misdirect it one way or the other, the tranny will lock you out. Sometimes it's a matter of a cold tranny. I agree with Mach1Canuck; stronger self-centering springs greatly improve shifting.

Re: Shifter Problem!!!
Since you're new, the preferred brands are, in no particular order:
Steeda Tri-Ax (MRT is a re-badged Steeda sold for a lower cost) PRO 5.0 MGW There are others, too. The problem you're experiencing is one that most of us have experienced with varying degrees of frequency. Since I replaced my shifter, I have never had it happen again.

Re: Shifter Problem!!!
I have the same problem, I also have an MGW an it did not cure anything. I've tried shifting different, but it doesn't matter if your trying to shift fast. I've learned to accept this as being just the way it is. It does get rather annoying and sometimes I just want to drive it off a cliff, missing third can be a little embarrassing. Good luck.

Re: Shifter Problem!!!
This was a problem with the '03's and early '04's. A guy I know has an '03 and he took it to the dealership to have it fixed just before his warranty ran out.

Re: Shifter Problem!!!
I have a problem with shifting when the car is cold. It's real rough going into 2nd and 3rd. And sometimes when I get on it, it seems like it's harder to get into gear at times. I'm thinking my synchros are starting to go, but I'm not too sure. Gonna take the car to hell, I mean the dealership, and let them check it out.
