SVT Focus Pump & Fuel Level

Stock fuel pump went out a few years ago and I replaced it with an SVT Focus pump (entire unit) which has been running quite well. However.....Turns out somewhere between 1/4 and 1/8 of a tank on the fuel gauge is when the fuel tank is actually empty. I haven't seen anything even remotely related to this issue on this pump. Search after search only talks about wiring options, changing fuel lines, and other common things. Do I need to pull the pump and bend the wire to which the float is attached? Is this something I can address via tune/electronically?

When i switched to a 2003 cobra pump mine did the same thing, i pulled it out and nothing seemed off, stuck it back in and hasnt done it since, maybe its getting hung up on something ? its a mechanical issue so i dont think a tune would do anything.

Re: SVT Focus Pump & Fuel Level

That's an excellent point. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Re: SVT Focus Pump & Fuel Level

You can bend the float wire and change the level but if the sending unit has a bad spot it will not read right.
Use an ohm meter to check it .Then test the gauge in the dash by grounding it. If it shows empty , its a bad ground from the sender unit or bad sending unit.
