Considering moving to Arizona, need info
So the wife and I are talking about the possibility of moving to Arizona late next year. I am due to separate from the Navy then and the life in San Diego, as great as it is, is a bit expensive for us. Just wanted to get some info from those that live out there on what the cost of living, compared to SD, is like. I am in the IT field so I also wondered what the job market is like out there too? Where's a good place to settle down, buy a house, job market in that area, recreational activities, just general opinions. We are also considering Seattle or the surrounding areas up there so if anyone knows anything about that area we'd appreciate your comments. Thanks for the help.

Re: Considering moving to Arizona, need info
Tucson & Phoenix both have a large amount of work in the IT field, my friend works with Deloitte & Touche in Phoenix doing IT auditing right now and he says there is tons.
Both of those towns have a...rich area? and then the rest of the city heh. They both get *very* hot in the summer (110+F), but believe Tucson is always a bit cooler of the two. Housing in Tucson is more affordable, Phoenix has just gotten insanely big, quickly, and some parts are prohibitively expensive to buy in. Keep in mind the colleges there too...good opportunities in IT - UoA in Tucson and State in Phoenix. If I were to pick one it would be Tucson, and the beach (Rocky Point / Puerto Penasco) is only a few hour drive away!

Re: Considering moving to Arizona, need info
If your into any kind of racing or cars then move to PHX and you wont be disappointed! The drag strips and road courses never close here, open all year long. It is pretty hot here for about 5 months out of the year, but the other 7 months are absolutely perfect. I'm paying around $1100 a month for the 1800sqft house that I rent with a 2 car garage and a hot tub in the back yard. If ya have any ?????? about Phx feel free to PM me. Oh ya, we have a pretty tight group of Mach owners down here too and we are always looking for more.

Re: Considering moving to Arizona, need info
If you are moving to AZ, make sure it is PHX you are moving to. Don't go to Tucson, it is a **** hole. I hated that place so bad that I transfered out of UofA in Tucson for ASU here in PHX. Cost of living here is not bad and there are many jobs in the IT industry here. Plus the weather is NICE
