Re: Blew my motor
called fords customer assistance after i found out that my warranty expired a week ago
i have to take the few parts off of the car that ive put on and take it to my local dealer, where they will diagnose the problem (although i know what it is) and then they will tell me what to do next i.e. if ford is going to decide to help me out. if ford does the right thing, i should get out of it without having to pay too much, but if they dont, i guess ill be either buying a new frpp crank or a livernois stroker kit and assembling it myself. ive built some windsor small blocks but no mod motors. i know a guy that is really good with them though so if i need any help he is the guy. im hoping i can get out of it for less than a grand, but i doubt it. your plans? |

Re: Blew my motor
Someone made a mess in my thread.
Car is at Ford right now they offered to run a diagnostic even though I'm out of warranty. I guess they are curious as I. My father retired out of the business so he was making some phone calls. The wrecked cobras i found on svtp wanted at least 10k for the motor and etc. Too much for that. My biggest thing right now is to figure out step 1 so i can start putting something together.

Re: Blew my motor
Stick a 5.4 into it.
Way under 10k overall.

Re: Blew my motor
Had this happen a couple weeks ago. took it to ford and apparently the #4 rod bearing was deteriorated and the rod was loose. only been redlined 3 or 4 times. intake and cat back. Ford payed for all of it under the extended service plan

Re: Blew my motor
Its the 2nd crank , sheared the keyway on the first , swapped out the FR500 cams to custom grinds , swapped out to bronze guides , swapped out my rings .
Bunch of times i guess . Just remember each time is a motor pull . But its right now and i know all the tricks .

Re: Blew my motor
We all learn from our mistakes right .
Im sure you have the 5.4 swap downpact . It sure just didnt bolt right in . My question is what can you do to that thing to make monster power ? Boss330 im sure is getting close to perfection . But surely isnt giving the info. up .

Re: Blew my motor
i'm no expert, but the motor would drop right with the mach's intake. as for using the supercharger, i'm not sure maybe a heat exchanger, new fuel pump, and some plumbing and a tune? others would know better.

Re: Blew my motor
only engine mod on my car was a php intake spacer. i never lost oil pressure or had any oscilation of oil pressure as would be expected with a spun rod bearing, so im thinking the pin hole in the rod journal somehow became blocked. just my theory as of right now. without oil the bearing would naturally be eaten up. there is definitely metal in the oil now. i drive spiritedly, but its not like every time i take the car out i run it hard. still, 36k... looking at shortblocks and stroker kits right now.

Re: Blew my motor
I would go with one of the new long blocks Ford racing is selling or a built engine. Good luck lots of ways to go with your car.

Re: Blew my motor
Only thing i know i have to change out is my mgw shifter before Ford runs thier tests on it.
I was going to grab an aluminator but its just 03 cobra parts for 6k, custom setup is going to happen instead.
