Water cylinder #8?
Anybody ever have this issue? I drive my 03 Mach daily,it's been raining a lot in Sacramento and just recently have had a misfire issue..I pulled coils and plugs and #8 was wet,I tasted the water it was not coolant mixed at all and was on/inside the coil boot and in the cylinder causing the plug to turn white..dried it up and the car started better than it has in a few weeks, the miss has been intermittent and just recently got worse (sat, sun) I read because of Mach hoods water or condisation can cause this, just curious if anyone else had had this issue? I'm not using coolant at all,I highly doubt it's a head gasket problem, atleast I hope not!..Thanks for the help fellas

Re: Water cylinder #8?
Looked further into clues on the valve cover and found water built residue up in the crevice of the valve cover bolt above #8 cylinder and leaks between the cop cover and valve cover..guess my hood seal leaks in hard rain

Re: Water cylinder #8?
That's normal.
When my poor Mach wasn't able to be parked under cover when she was younger it happened often . I live in Southeast Texas, we get too much rain way too often.

Re: Water cylinder #8?
Is the number 8 cylinder the last one on the passenger side? I'm an old school Chevy guy and not sure of Ford's firing order and cylinder numbering?
The front corner of my shaker seal is sagging and has to be leaking when it rains... I've never had looked into the spark plug holes to check for water. Wondering if I should. Thanks

Re: Water cylinder #8?
check the gasket on the bottom side of the coil cover and make sure the coil pack harness is placed correctly in the opening. Theres a larger rubber area on that harness used to help seal the coil pack covers. If you clean the engine bay at all keep water away from there as best you can. Its not uncommon but its not from the cooling system (oil can get in there but not coolant)

Re: Water cylinder #8?
Mine did this regularly when I daily'd it a few years back. It seemed to do it worse the warmer it was. I didn't have the issues when snow melted, so I figured the shaker seal (or tray attached to the shaker itself) sags when it gets warmer out. One thing that helped me was when I started putting dielectric grease in the boot of the COP before sticking it on the plug. That made a pretty big difference with mine. Now it only gets wet when I wash it LOL. Such a garage queen.

Re: Water cylinder #8?
I had a spin/no start issue this last winter that turned out to be that the way wrong heat range plugs had been installed previously. Put in the correct plugs and problem solved, but I noticed that there was a stain at the coil harness entry that went well into #4...wondered what that was all about...reading these posts made me want to take another look. Neither harness grommet was oriented correctly to fit between the valve cover and coil cover. Got them squared away and added some RTV to the bottom of each grommet where they seat to be sure, plus dielectric grease to coil boots. I know these posts helped me get an idea as to what was going on and get the problem solved...pretty sure, anyway...thanks all.
