call me captain obvious but less fuel in the tank equals less effort.
you do want to be cautious with the fuel level and float as you take the unit out and put it back in.
and NO SMOKING

never pulled the filler tube out. didn't need to. all i was doing was changing the fuel pump and had lots of rtoom to do so with the filler in place. i was going to drop the whole tank, even got the new grommet, but my mrt exhaust tip made it a little bit of a pain to cut the old grommet out as per the shop manual.

some good info here.

just follow the shop manual and it'll be easy. i used a 1/4" tube to get the fuel out, couldn't get anything larger down there. it did the job real well and got all the fuel out of the tank. there are the old kind of plastic clips on the vent hoses that like to break, push them threw with a small screwdriver and the will come out easy. my girl shot some pics, i'll see if i can get them up alittle later.
