Air conditioning question....

I didn't see a spot for this so......when I bought my mach the previous owner took the ac system out and put a ford racing bypass pulley on it....everything is there under the dash but nothing is there under the hood.....what all will I need to get my air back, and I'm wondering if the mustang gt,v6 all have the same ac...if so I can get it all from junk yard or salvage place...

Re: Air conditioning question....

Wouldn't surprise me if it matches, check on a site like tasca ford parts.

You should at least replace the orifice tube and dryer/accumulator

Re: Air conditioning question....

lmr.com has most of the required parts for your AC system, they tend to buy out ford's surplus of OEM parts and they have good prices.

I would go new, much less headaches and if you get one bad part then it can ruin other items down stream.

Re: Air conditioning question....

Compressor lines, switches, and condensor. The compressor buy new or reman, reciever dryer condensor lines and switches( should be 1 high and 1 low ) new. Are the major pieces

Remember to evacuate the system and add the correct amount of oil. IMO vaccuum out the sygstem and let it sit overnight with as close to 30in vac you can get. Since the system has been open so long you are also going to want to flush the evap. Just a thought the evap could be bad under the dash and it was easier for the po to remove the under good equip.

Re: Air conditioning question....

The previous owner did the same thing to mine. I bought it in March for a good price and it cost a pretty penny to get the AC system installed. I went to 2 shops and got quotes, I then pieced everything together. It ended up costing over $1500 parts and labor. I thought about getting used parts, but didn't want it breaking on me in the hot Arizona summers. I have a 2 year warranty on parts and labor also.
