Please keep us in your thoughts

I do not usually share much personal info on line but in this case I thought I would ask my registry brethren to say prayers if are so inclined.
My son will be undergoing Spinal fusion surgery to correct his scoliosis in the next few weeks.
We have exhausted all non surgical options trying to avoid this, and in all reality it He has made it to almost 14 years old. Bracing got us a long way but in the past 6 months his curve just got beyond what the brace can control.
He is also on the Autism Spectrum which makes helping him understand what he will be going thru that much more difficult.

Please keep him in your thoughts.
Will be scheduling the surgery this week.

sorry to hear it, hope all goes well!

A friend's wife is going through similar with scoliosis along with issues from a car accident. It's not fun but so far she's doing pretty well, I hope it helps him as much

Working on getting him to focus on positives. No more brace, no more hot undershirts in the summer, should be a little taller etc...not sure he fully comprehends the whole thing which is part of my worries. He is going to experience pain and discomfort that is unavoidable and simply something he won’t understand. Watching this unfold will take me to another level that’s for sure.

Thank you for the support

Re: Please keep us in your thoughts

*fingers crossed*

Sorry to hear it has to come to surgery, but glad that he is at least being afforded the opportunity to get it done. I used to work with a guy who had scoliosis and he was in his 40s. He missed work all the time because of it, so I know it's not fun to live with. Here's to relief!
