$92 Fine
Ok so I got pulled over and given a citation for having a headlight out (which I didn't know was out) I understand him pulling me over but he never once asked me if I had been drinking or anything else for that matter. I used to date a Police officer (and her dad was the major also) and they both said that when an officer pulls you over for something like that they are usually looking for something else. Well, not in this case and since I don't live in the area I got the ticket I can't show up to court with a reciept showing I got the headlight fixed....so I prepaid just now online and the dang thing cost me $92 bucks....30 bucks for the fine and a 62 dollar processing fee.....how much of a rip-off is that!!!! And police wonder why people in general have such bad feelings towards them.

Re: $92 Fine
Where did you get the ticket? Here in Chesapeake? I work here at City Hall and most of the Cops I deal with would not do that to you. That sucks!!

Re: $92 Fine
That sucks. I see people around here in the bloody Montgomery with headlights out all the time. I've watched cops drive right by 'em, and do nothing. But God forbid you fart upwind, they'll crucify you!

Re: $92 Fine
I wondering if they have some kind of zero tolerance thing going on around Tidewater. I got pulled on the VB Oceanfront for a window tint violation. The officer was very nice, polite and professional and he let me know that all he was doing was window tint tickets that day. Of course my tint measured 13% so what am I going to say other than, yes sir. I guess they are looking to trade up to a more serious offense using the first stop as probably cause. Since there isn't so much as a gum wrapper in my car, he opted not to search.
The next day, I got pulled by a State Trooper in Norfolk for the exact same thing. He checked my window tint and my exhaust. He was also very cool and let me go after I showed him my citation from the previous day. Again, being polite and honest with the Trooper might have been the difference between getting a second ticket and being given a break. Of course having a perfect driving record probably helps. To avoid the hassle I steamed the tint from my side windows this last weekend. I removed the tint from both in 12 minutes. I can't stand not having tint though, so I'll get 50% installed next time I have a break from work.

Re: $92 Fine
I got the ticket in Norfolk right after leaving a Tides game...of course I'm all decked out in my baseball stuff and he still didn't ask if I had been drinking. (I hadn't of course) If I'm the cop in that situation I atleast ask. Most people have a few beers when their at the ballpark. End of the month quota is what I'm holding fast on.

Re: $92 Fine
No doubt. The law is the law. I talked to a police officer friend when I got the tint ticket and asked how long the tint had been on car. I said two years and he reminded me that I had been breaking the law for two years. Game, set & match.

Re: $92 Fine
That does suck. In Florida you would fix it, have any police officer or notary in any state sign the back of the ticket saying you fixed it, and mail a $7 fine. If you don't get it fixed thats another story. Sounds very unfair.

Re: $92 Fine
How did we get on the subject of window tint? I got a ticket for a crummy headlight being out....not like I had been driving around for 2 years with a headlight out....I respect the police but that's just being a little picky...what happened to the days when they would say..you have a headlight out if I catch ya again with it your getting a ticket. Oh well its water under the bridge now...but it still gets under my skin

Re: $92 Fine
Why couldn't you get the ticket dismissed? Just about every equipment violation that I have ever received has been dismissed by the clerk of courts once I provided evidence that it was corrected. I've had equipment violations in Amelia, Chesterfield, Prince George, Richmond, Surry, and Waverly and have never had a problem getting one dismissed.

Re: $92 Fine
When I got pulled over a couple of years ago for a headlight out, they just told me to get it fixed and then get it checked by a police officer at the nearest police station to wherever I am to prove I got it fixed. Then I mailed in the signed slip that the cop gave me. I think they gave me 14 days or something like that to fix it. I had this happen with window tint too.

Re: $92 Fine
So how is the ticket you got for a bad head light the cops fault? So you were driving your car with one head light and did not notice the other was not working! If that's true, you deserve the ticket and quit blaming the cops for doing their job. Cops don't set the fee's or fines....

Re: $92 Fine
Did you contact the court?
Most of the time as an out of area resident they will allow you to mail in the receipts and dismiss the ticket. I would have called B4 I just paid it never hurts to ask...........

Re: $92 Fine
I got a ticket in Va. a couple a years ago coming back from the 600 in Charlotte. Cost me big bucks - $500 for the ticket and $500 for the lawyer. Both my headlights were working though.
