Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

Searching the internet for pictures and I came upon my old thread from 800 years ago.

Actually considering doing this because part of my stripe was chipped off by a pressure washer and then further destroyed just a week or so ago by a touchless car wash.

Anyone widen their stripe in the last 8 years?

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

As soon as it is a little warmer here in southern maine I am putting on a CF wrap to the second step down on each side of the hood.

Saw this and am going for this look. Our aftermarket hood stripe wasn't installed quite right and is showing some age so we wanted to try something else. If it doesn't turn out good, we will be making a template of the stock hood stripe and will cut out the stock style from the CF wrap we are putting on it.

Sorry to steal one of you guys pics.... just wanted to show what I was talking about.

That looks sick. Maybe I will look into something like that to also hide rock chips

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

I bought a 5 foot by 4 foot sheet of the wrap on ebay for like 20 dollars.

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

I have not the slightest clue on how to wrap things so I will have to do some research. I like how that Mach is wrapped and then has the pin stripe going down the side of it.

...and the polished chin spoiler

I personally like the wide wrap on the hood. But I can't even wrap Christmas presents to make them look good. If I had to wrap a hood, it would be a disaster. To those that can do it.......hats off to ya.

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

Really liking the widened stripes

but I like the even wider carbon fiber more because it matches the grill AND goes all the way to the grill

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

Again that isn't my car just a pick I found of an AB mach. I am doing mine the same way and I figure if I mess it up then I am out 20 dollars so I might as well try it before having it professionally done.

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

the AB mach is so nice, that is how I would consider doing the mach, but never got it, just looks sexy with the carbon fiber

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

I like the CF as well, flows nicely with the lines. I just want to know how he did the pin stripe down the sides.

Probably had body shop tape off and then painted it

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

Contacted a shop about an estimate to have this done. Not sure I trust myself doing such a task. I don't do detailed oriented stuff very well... should see the bubbles on my phone's screen protector

I would get the shop to do it if your not that comfortable about it, does not hurt to let experts handle certain task and enjoy it all done right after its done.

Got quoted $150 for cf wrap, $50 for stripe removal. Is there a safe way to remove the stripe myself? Heat gun and a plastic scraper?

Might want to have them do it all, I remember pulling mine off and wasn't fun at all, that look good being cf

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

hair dryer and a lot of patience
start at a corner edge with a fingernail and warm the vinyl as you lift
then clean the hood up with warm soapy water

that carbon fiber is nice
not feeling the glossy chin spoiler though

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

I don't think the widened stripe looks too bad. I would prefer the regular width or go out to the second cowl hump and be lined up with the grill opening. Or should I say grill delete opening?

for me I still think I would pay the $50 bones and let them deal with the fun, but that is just me.

Re: What do you think of the widened stripe?

Got the stripe off. Was actually very easy with a blow dryer and just a little patience. Not even a lot of patience was required, just a little. Just have to get the residue off. Still thinking about the wider stripe. Found a Mach on IG that had a widened gloss stripe and it looked gorgeous.
