2015+ Mach 1

I don't know if this has been posted here yet, but if not, I thought you all might find it of interest.

The only fault is that there appears to be no shaker.

Re: 2015+ Mach 1

Looks like a photoshop. Although that does look pretty good, I'd still like something a little more aggressive looking.

Re: 2015+ Mach 1

I haven't seen a 2015 Mustang with the hood up to tell if there still is that shaker cut out outline, like what was on the 2005-2014 Mustang.

It will be quite interesting to see what they are going to do!

guessing parts bin for the wheels. My former GT/CS had those wheels.

Have seen this rendering before & I don't "feel" this version.

Re: 2015+ Mach 1

My best guess for the 201? mach 1, is that its probably going to be aimed as a drag strip special. The Boss 302 was aimed at tearing up road courses, this will likely fulfill the needs of the drag crowd. Possibly an SRA to set it apart (Ford Racing is already going to be making these for the 2015 models for those that want to swap one in), maybe a 3.73, and a larger displacement v8 (maybe an n/a version of the 5.8L out of the GT500? Or an FI 5.0) We will just have to wait and see.

Re: 2015+ Mach 1

Always thought a New Mach with a 5.8 non-supercharged would be pretty kewl. Looking forward to the thought of a New Mach coming out. If its available in Orange I could be in trouble. Sad part is there is no way I could keep the Boss so it would have to be pretty amazing. Time will tell I guess.....

Shaker
N/A 5.8 V8
3.73
9in wide in the corners

Then I'd take it seriously.

Re: 2015+ Mach 1

Have you people seen the engine bay of the 2015 Mustang? The 5.0 Coyote V8 just barely fits, a 5.8 is out of the question!

And not all Mach 1's had shaker hood scoops, except for the 2003-2004 models. I think most 1969-70 Mach 1's had a non-functional hood scoop, the 1971-73's had NACA scoops in the hood, and the Mustang II Mach 1's, well they didn't really need a hood scoop, period!

You really believe they can shoehorn a 5.8L modular 4V into this space where there is just enough room to squeeze the 5.0 into?

That engine looks like is in pain like a size 12 foot in a size 10 shoe. Why put skeezy plastic covers on the engine? I'm not in love with the Ford corporate front end.

Yet the GT500 has a 5.8L explain that. Think they are going to back down to a SC 5.0 or turbo 5.0?

They didn't develop a new 5.8 just to use it for only 2-3 years.

The 5.8 was a last hurrah for that motor. If you believe what SVT said, they said it was always the last available step should competition come about... there was just no competition till the Camaro came back. Even overweight and 500hp, it still had no competitors. Then when they got more serious, 550hp and less weight still made it top dog VS, say, the srt8 Challenger.

Now does it look like it can fit? Yes to me. It's farthest point to farthest point is wider, but the new engine covers are deceiving, and make the 5.0 look bigger then it is. Sure looks to me like there is some room between the strut towers.

That being said, the 5.0 was designed with VVT from the get go, and a borderline ground up design. The 5.8 was a balls to the wall, bored out version of the 5.4, designed in the mid 90's. It's a 20yo, largely truck-motor based design with its hefty size stroke. The 5.0 is a free revving, broader powerband motor. I'd gladly take a tvs2300 Boss 5.0 over a tvs2300 5.8 in a stock production car. Odds are though, a twin turbo 5.0(or slightly larger) will become the top dog down the road

Re: 2015+ Mach 1

I've been looking at that engine bay wondering where two turbos could be wedged, one possibly where the air box but the second one, not sure about. I am not thinking factory small turbos, but aftermarket setup. Nothing larger than 70mm.

It was never intended to be a "hurrah" but the n/a 5.8 was supposed to be used in trucks too from what I heard, but then they went 6.2L instead.

Re: 2015+ Mach 1

My worthless guess if they build a new Mach is they keep it around the range of the Boss 302's horsepower, or maybe 475-500hp. But who's really gonna buy one when it's gonna cost $50K. They only sold 6,000 or so 2012-2013 Boss 302's. If they build a new Mach, it'll keep its value this time.
