New Mach Tick Question

Hello everyone. Just picked up a 2003 DSG Mach a few months ago, and could not be happier. This is my 3rd Mustang, previously owning a 99 v6 and a 2000 GT. She had some things done to her when I bought her. Accufab TB, 26 spline input shaft with a Promotion Performance clutch 26 spline clutch, billet steel flywheel, Motiv 4.30s, Pro 5.0, 10.5 inch rear OEM wheels (which I love), firewall clutch adjuster and adjustable clutch quadrant, front and rear braided stainless brake lines, DBA T2 slotted rotors with Hawk HPS pads, SR lowering springs with CC plates, PHP intake spacer, Nitto 555 radials, JLT cold air, Mac LTs, offroad h with Flowmasters, 31 spline axles, Detroit Trutrac, as well as a few cosmetic things, shorty antenna, Corbeau CR1s, and a sequential tail light kit. Anyways she is a 2003, and she was an early one at that. Currently sitting at 16k miles. I fear I have become obsessive over listening for the dreaded tap from the heads. I don't hear anything as of yet. What can I expect? Will it tick for sure being an early 03?

Re: New Mach Tick Question

Just enjoy the car, and drive it. Maybe do a gen 2 head cooling mod. Have fun with it. If you have to worry every time you turn the key then sell it.

Also run good oil that's 5-30w or 5-40w. I'm currently running 5-40w personally.

Do yourself a favor and switch to 30w soon. 20w is way to watery

Re: New Mach Tick Question

5w30 and check your spark plugs to make sure they are not loose. Mine had a intermittent tip right before it shot the plug out.

Would switching from 5w20 to 5w30, would that help out with tapping valve guide sound?

Re: New Mach Tick Question

switching to 5w30 will not do much it may be worse cause it can't get to the top of the motor as fast.

5w30 has the same cold flow characteristics as 5w20.
