Nope - first was my 98 GT - AWESOME car - drove across the US and back (7500+ miles in 16 days) in 2000 - only one ticket at 96 mph in Wyoming - stopped by Officer Baldi who promptly relieved me of $200 for the good of the state (I guess they need the money).

Try as I might I could not get a straight long enough to go over 130 (loaded with luggage and two passengers that's not bad).
On that trip I could not get the back end loose at all - I guess all the weight over the back end really helped.

In comparison the Mach 1 is plain scary my only gripe is the Gatorbacks which seem like an olde worlde tire for such a fast car.
They are fine in the dry, but much else a second rate choice. Why not BFG KDWs?

I bought my first Mustang when I was in highschool. A 66 A-code that I've done the usual engine and suspension bolt-ons. I bought my second Mustang when I was in college. It's a 89 GT that has 225,000 miles and still runs strong. My Mach 1 is my third and defenitly not last Mustang. I still have all three and will never ever sell any one of them. The hardest part is deciding which set of keys to grab when I leave the house!

Re: Poll: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?

My second, behind a '01 GT Auto. Bought is as a fun car and for the wife to drive when her Escape went in for repairs. Funny thing...Escape has been hassle-free and she said "no way, I'm not putting the first ding on your baby" when discussing the probabilities of her driving the GT. A week later, the GT Auto was gone and the '03 5-speed was aquired.

How did you go that long without buying one? This is my third since 96. Think I might need to learn some selfcontrol.

Well I bought the '71 back in 1993 at a swap meet when I was 22. I actually used it for a daily driver for a while. I got divorced in 1996 and it was all I could afford just to buy a '94 Ranger and the '71 had to sit...and sit....and sit. I traded the Ranger on the '03 Mach in June '04 and I have started work on the '71.

Trust me...I would have had another Mustang ALOT sooner if I had gotten my way.

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?

I had a 87 GT. Had extensive engine work, ran real hard. Then came babies. Babies don't fit in Mustangs. Then came Family truckster. 16 yrs later walking through the Ford dealership with the oldest baby who sits in the Mach sitting on the sales floor. She sat down, grinned, I sat down grinned, bought Mach.
Nice to have a bit of history and a good running car again.

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?

Not including my wife's 96 v-6 car I have had 3.

My first was a 1983 Mustang L notchback. It was a former enterprise rental car. 2.3liters of fury, 4 speed, no power anything...except a/c...
I wish I still had that car. It would have been a great car to have today as a project car. It was the lightest coupe I knew of...It would have been great with a built 351 in it...

The second is my Coupe...It is running great now, I have 150 miles or so on the new engine and all is working very nice...This thing rips by the way...I can hardly wait until I can get it tuned...

The 3rd is the Mach...

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?

My very first mustang was a Mach 1 but it was a 1970 and I have had many mustangs between that mach and the 2004 mach I just bought last year.

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?

The Mach is my 2nd Mustang. I had a 1999 Mustang GT, bought it in Feb. of '99. That was one fast GT to only have a pair of mufflers, K&N drop in, and underdrive pulleys....8.72@81MPH in the 1/8, stock Goodyears, hot car, 90 degree day. People at the track were freaked out b/c the 'ol '96-'98 were so much slower than that and my car was the first new GT at the track. Anyhoo, after 2 years of not having a Mustang, I'm glad to be back in one!!

Re: Is the Mach your 1st Stang?

My first car (1994) was a red '91 Mustang 'vert. w/ black interior (4cyl.)
Next (1995), was my reef blue '93 LX hatch 5.0L w/ black interior that was my daily transport (high 11's w/ nitrous) until 2001, when I made it a drag car.... still own it, and currently goes 9.80's w/ nitrous... who knows where it'll end.
I bought the Mach in Feb. '04 as an impulse purchase, as I was actually considering a nice, used Chevy Silverado to put around in, but some guy had traded-in his Mach for a Z06 vette at the dealership my uncle works for.... knowing I'm a "mustang guy" they tipped me off before anyone else had a chance to snap it up. So much for that pickup truck, eh? It's nice to have another 'stang for puttin' around town.
