Thanks! Sonic blue is my favorite Ford color. The newer deep impact blue is nice though.

Re: sutyak's turbo 2004 Mach 1 build thread

Decided it was time to replace the generic avatar with a turbo Mach avatar. I'm not a graphics guy, but I think it came out OK using GIMP.

Looks great Mark; I've been wanting to add a turbo theme to mine but have just been to lazy to change it lol

Use the layer mask from selection and then do a gradient fill to create fades.

You can do a lot of cool stuff in GIMP its just not as easy as photoshop.

Re: sutyak's turbo 2004 Mach 1 build thread

Looking at your pics again; may I kindly suggest a minor change? I say this ONLY because I have been bit by it already.

Your upper radiator hose runs right on top of the air filter for the turbo. If your upper radiator hose fails then that turbo will suck a huge amount of water into the inlet, then through the intercooler and into your motor. Very bad things can happen very quickly.

Yes, I got bit. A hose clamp failed while I was on the dyno, it failed right when the throttle was lifted so 'minimal' water was sucked up but damage it did do. So, I will be pulling my motor out again and putting a new head gasket on.

I mention this because your setup looks almost just like mine, btw, the clamp that failed was on the crossover pipe. I will upload the video at a some point.

My solution will be to use -16AN connections; will be welding -16AN bungs onto the radiator and the crossover pipe and then making a hose to connect the two.

Thanks. So you'll still route it over the air filter, just use AN connections this time? Sounds good. Send me a link to the AN flanges/bungs you buy when you get around to it.

Still trying to figure out the routing, but I plan on staying as far away from the filter as possible, may consider a shield or power pipe type of connection and move the filter.

This is one of the major reasons I love this forum, just the little help outs that I've seen throughout the years.

I haven't installed it yet, but it looks like a piece of cake. I just need to rent a puller. Here's a guide I was looking at.

Re: sutyak's turbo 2004 Mach 1 build thread

Thanks to Fast Gypsy on Steel City Muscle Cars for a great deal on a set of Precision 4.10 gears! These look nearly new! This should really wake up the Mach 1. I will definitely be running a 28" tire at the track with tubes.
My target mph is 135. I expect to go through the 1/4 at 6600 RPM with the 4.10 and a 28" tire, or somewhere close to that. I don't think the Mach 1 will have any trouble at 7000 RPM.

Aren't those gears a little steep for a turbo car?

Steep is relative. They would only be too steep if I run out of RPM before the end of the 1/4 me. For the street this low compression and big turbo needs some help down low, so it should make it much more fun.

if it is to much you can always swap out, but I get what your saying, get it in those high rpms so that turbo can get used

Re: sutyak's turbo 2004 Mach 1 build thread

Picked up a nice used set of Corbeau A4 wides today. I was debating on whether to restore the stock seats or go aftermarket. These came up for sale for a great price so I jumped on them. I'll hold onto the stock seats just in case I want to restore them later.

congrates on seats, it happens sometimes to find great prices on things
I for sure make sure you like those before selling the mach seats, or as you said have them resto.
