Exhaust Opinions?
I am in the market for an exhaust system. I want a catback, and maybe an X or H later and of course Longtubes later. For now I want just a catback due to budget. I was wondering what has the best sound and best price. Chime in and let me know what you guys think. I was looking at Flowmaster, and MAC, and also Borla Stingers, but I would have to get them used cause they are pricey. Thanks.

Re: Exhaust Opinions?
SSS's have a nice rumble at low rpm's but I think they're obnoxious at WOT ( ^^^^). I had MAC's when I bought the car. They sound good, but not loud enough for my taste so I went with Magnapacks. I have no regrets and love them. My second choice would be the stingers.

Re: Exhaust Opinions?
i'll third that!
matched with a MRT catted H pipe... will make you need to change your shorts. I run an o/r x pipe with stingers now and its one of the loudest exhaust setups i've heard, but of course thats next to the SLP LM1's which sound like hilbilly farm truck garbage.

Re: Exhaust Opinions?
MAC sounds really good, I've been a big fan ever since I saw this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqomJAm-uic All the straight through mufflers sounds badazz IMO though. $350 sounds like a steal for the SSS. Can't argue with saving money.

Re: Exhaust Opinions?
I'll probably get flamed for this but oh well....
To me the SSS catback sounds like borla, but a little quieter. if it were between SSS and Borla... Borla all day, sounds meaner to me. Mac FTW, I'll be honest if you just get the Mac catback it is probably one of the quieter catbacks, it sounds good though. It's kinda like getting SLP LM1s just cause they're ridiculously loud doesnt mean they sound good. If you want headers down the road anyway then the Mac catback should be loud enough.... (I have Mac LTs, X, CB) |

Re: Exhaust Opinions?
Something to consider, if you want an x-pipe now and LT's later, SLP's modular x-pipe will fit both stock manifolds and their LT's. SLP is a bit pricier, but very good quality!

Re: Exhaust Opinions?
Yep just put mine on yesterday. I couldn't take the sound of the H pipe anymore. Another nice thing about the SLP is a 11.5" piece of 2.5 dia pipe expanded on one end makes for a nice "test pipe" for the cats. Only compalint is that you have to pull out the studs on the drivers side manifold and replace them with bolts. One of mine came out easy and one was a PITA. and I had to re tap the hole to get good threads.

SSS cats are the way to go. I've had them on my Mach since last Dec. Get with John. It's a good product.

Re: Exhaust Opinions?
if you don't mind just getting some weilded in i know a place you can find some LM1's for sale on americanmuscle.com, i think the best thing to do is get on you tube and listen to the different brands, i can tell you the two best sounding mach's i heard is kooks LT's w kooks x-pipe and SLP LM1's and the next is O/R h-pipe with SLP LM1's. alot of guys don't like the LM1's but i do. you are going to get different answer for this, but it looked like the SSS one is what most people were pointing you too. the best thing is for you be happy with what you are hearing and not anyone else. good luck with your search
