Re: Stereo Upgrade Journey Begins

Well. It’s all buttoned up and done. Now time to drive the car, listen and tweak what needs to be tweaked...very happy with the outcome. Took me close to 30 hours maybe more all in after today. A few issues here and there with the 17 year old car. But overall pretty happy.

I do want to go to a dual post battery when this one dies. Would prefer the amp connection be on its own. But for now...

Thanks for all the comments and encouragement. I appreciate it.

Just a way to isolate that one connection...I had used them before in my coupe exactly for that reason. Just made everything cleaner imho

Re: Stereo Upgrade Journey Begins

The Mach 460 was good when I first heard it, but think they should have went a head with putting the mach 1000 system in the mach's.
For a factory system, my 09 F350 FX4 factory sound system sounds good, not like an after market one, but still good.
I do love the head unit that comes in my diesel with the navigation system.

Any more pictures?

I might take some more this weekend. very happy with how everything came out. Did not do the full sound deadening I could do. I have some dyna-mat type material I need to install in the trunk one of these days.

I really need to find some rear trunk trim panels to replace mine to clean up the trunk.

Re: Stereo Upgrade Journey Begins

Thought I would share this.
There is a company out of florida called Five Star Car Stereo.

They do install videos of a lot of their installations. They usually do a series for any given vehicle. Including some they title 911 videos where they re-do systems that others have maybe not done a particularly good job on.

Reason I bring it up, is they are working on a Mach1 right now. Similar system design to what I did. They are removing the mach stuff of course, and doing a 5 channel amp, separates up front, co ax in the rear deck and a sub of some type.

They are already 2 videos into the install, which is mostly teardown and basic system info. Talk about the mach 460 and how to utlize the factory wiring etc...

its a good series from a good company. I incorporated quite a bit of their install suggestions after watching a lot of their videos.

Worth a look if you are interetsed in doing a stereo.

Re: Stereo Upgrade Journey Begins

I'll for sure have to check that out, because it will be nice seeing how they run everything, thanks for sharing.
