Lowering front end
Does anyone have any experience to share about cutting coil springs down? I would like to lower the front end of my 70 Mach, the replacements are just too high, looking specifically for any ratio of inches removed from the coil to the inches it would lower the car. If I take 4" off the coil spring, how much could I expect to lower the car at the wheel well over the front tire?

Re: Lowering front end
Better off heating about 3-4 coils up and letting them sag a little. Once you cut them there is no going back and it hurts the ride BAD.

Re: Lowering front end
NEVER heat springs, DUMBEST idea ever! Cutting STOCK Mach 1 springs in the 03-04 cars is completely safe and fine, just don't take off more than 2 coils. A LINEAR rate spring has the same rate throughout the spring unlike a progressive. Many people, myself included have cut springs and have had no issues at all, in fact my car is lower and rides smooth with cut mach springs up front than my old H&R Race springs. Here is more info.

Re: Lowering front end
Or you could save yourself time and hassle for not much money.
I love my Vogtland springs. Not particularly well known outside of the import crowd, but a well regarded, quality company. Ride is comparable to stock. Lowered my car just enough to not necessitate aftermarket struts/shocks or caster/camber plates. Pictures below are with all factory isolators in place. Here's where I bought them, and they still have the best price I've found: http://www.hotpart.com/vogtland-spor...r-application/

Re: Lowering front end
Its a 1970 Mach not a 03-04.
Go to youtube, there are a ton of videos on how to cut the springs. |
