Got a fun little project with the Mach for the next month.

Got tired of looking at the motor so I am LS swapping it....Time for some real power. JK!!!!

But for real, I am doing a custom grind cam swap(Upgrading spring & degreeing), short runner intake , long tube headers, March under drive pullies and damper, oil pump gears, 90mm maf, egr delete, cobra ecu, and a dyno tune after everything is done with it.

Still on stock short block, but will be building another one to rev pretty high.

I am looking at a 7,500 rpm redline right now.
I would LOVE to see 400 to the wheels but I dont think thats going to happen, so I will be pretty happy to see 380 hp, but I am honestly expecting less....

Cams will be in the 230 duration range (114/115) and 5" runner. I am thinking it will make pretty good power past 6.5k and wont fall off too hard.

Why such the short runners?

Well, I talked to NA SVT the other day and he spec'd me those cams, and after I told him that I want to spin to 7,500 on the stock short block, and spin to 8k when I forge the internals later down the road he told me that I should probably run a 5" runner. I am not one to argue with him lol I will not be daily driving this car, and will be putting 4.88 to offset some of the lack of power in the low and mid range.

Yeah, is it optimal for my set up now? Eh, probably not. But I figured if I do it now, I won't have to do it again when the time comes

Okay, so I decided since I have the engine out and I will be pulling it again once I've bought the bottom end later, I might as well just build it now and get it over with.

It's going to take me a little longer, but I think it'll be worth the wait.
First, I wanna talk about what I expect out of it, and would love to hear some advice on what parts I should invest in to get me where I wanna be.

It's going to be a high compression, high rpm, N/A build.
Looking around 11-11.5:1 CR. would love to go higher but I don't know of any E85 pumps around here so I am limited to 93 for now.
I want to be in the 420rwhp area. I was thinking .020+ bore, forged connecting rods & ARP bolts flat top pistons w/ valve reliefs, and spinning pretty high (8,000+)would get me to my goal. Maybe some head work? But idk if that would be really necessary. I really just want to talk about the bottom end, this will be my first engine build ever and I am kinda nervous about it and want to get it right the first time.

What would be some good rods and pistons that can take them kind of RPMS? H-beam or I-beam? How do I get 11.5:1 CR or around that ratio. Can I get away with flat tops or do I have to shave the heads too? (Is that recommended with mod motors?)
Is there any special procedures or tips on the mod motors when taking apart or assembling?
I am guessing head studs wouldn't be a MUST or it might even not be needed at all, but would it bad to consider?

I would get some domed pistons and leave the heads alone. I have Manley +5.5cc pistons in my new motor.

Stock stroke? What's your CR at?

And I take that back, after a little research I found a few E85 gas stations around my area.
I would seriously consider running e85 if I can get my compression ratio about 12:1.
Would a 5.0 stroker and .020 over bore domed pistons be enough to get me there?
