Original battery finally gave up the ghost

Well, it's been 15 years and 8 months since my Mach hit the pavement, and my original, faithful battery has finally breathed it's last breath. I can't believe that it's lasted this long.
It was a sudden death, with hardly any warning whatsoever. I guess I did notice that it seemed to crank over slightly slower over the last couple of months, but never seemed to struggle. Then yesterday- nothing.
Does anyone have any suggestions about a replacement? Anyone else have their original battery?

Re: Original battery finally gave up the ghost

****, the OE batteries were good but that's crazy. I haven't had as good of luck with the battery in my 2012 f150. Ive been through 3-4 because the damned positive terminal kept separating and pulling up.

here in FL you only get 3 years out of most batteries so we just buy whatever that has free replacement for at least 3 years.

NAPA does a good battery. And if you didn't notice, on these cars when the battery has low voltage the gauges do a full sweep on start up.

Re: Original battery finally gave up the ghost

When I traded my Mach1 in, in 2010, it was still the original battery. It was till going strong. My 2011 Shelby original battery lasted 4 years.

Re: Original battery finally gave up the ghost

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out NAPA. I'm unsure of where to find a Decka battery.

Just wondering why everyone is recommending different batteries when these lasted so long. I went right out and bought another Motorcraft.

Re: Original battery finally gave up the ghost

My original got me to 2010. After running a wally world battery for a few years after that, I decided to go and get a motorcraft max from the dealer and it died after just 18 months. I think I was just unlucky in that situation and got the one bum battery out of the batch because I never did anything to hurt it.

Been using a duralast for the last 3 years with no issues. Fingers crossed.

Yeah I think johnson controls makes most of what's out there.

Re: Original battery finally gave up the ghost

Just get another Motorcraft. Quite afew people have had their original last 8 years or more. My Motorcraft lasted longer than any battery I've had in any car I've owned.

Thank you! Same here, and plus it is brand correct!

Re: Original battery finally gave up the ghost

Yeah everyone seems to have had good luck with the original battery. And it just feels right seeing a Motorcraft battery under the hood.
